A resident doctor at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has died after collapsing during the National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, in FMC, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State. The incident happened on Thursday and according to one of his colleagues, the deceased, identified as Stephen Ijeuwe, had a cardiac arrest. He was allegedly rushed to the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital, where CPR was carried out on him, but they were later told that the hospital had only one defibrillator which was not functioning. Now imagine d irony... Dis is d kind of embarrassing stories U can only hear in dis country.. A whole FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE has only 1 non functioning defibrillator ? Wen will doctors start protesting for more supposedly basic equipments and gadgets for our hospitals for heaven's sake? |
