I fear a lot,
Twisting and turning in my bed at night.
Bewildered at this thing called 'wokeness'

Halima is throwing of the shackles of patriarchy,
By pushing all men into that cage of disdain.

Sheila wants to enjoy every right to her body,
Yet, she campaigns for abortion rights for full term babies as well.

Fred wants to be allowed the freedom,
To kiss,
And hold hands happily,
With Steve.
Yet calls others bigots for not believing the same ideals.

It's worse,
Fred says he is a woman,
Psychologically,
Trapped in a man's body,
Biologically.
And he wants,
Freedom to compete against Mary,
Right to pee in the girl's bathroom close to Dianne.
And the chance to teach Sadia's 7 year old the benefits of this disphoria.

Akanji was a Christian,
A scion of bible thumpers who now hates everything with the label 'church'
Egbon calls us fools for paying tithes,
Says we are born bastards for believing in miracles,
Claims we are clueless dunderheads for believing in the power of prayers.
Screams that every pastor either wants to rape our wallets or daughters and girlfriends.
Spits in our face and calls us stupid for believing in faith and not 'verifiable facts.
Tells us we are mad for not believing in pre-marital sex.
Says we are a bunch of dying eunuchs when we advocate for moderation

Akanji is very pissed.
Angry that we pay him zero attention.
Perplexed that we blindly hold on to faith that makes no one ashamed.
Infuriated when we open our mouth to preach to other people.
Yet fearful when the lights begin to go dim on his ephemeral earthly existence.

Esther is in love,
With her marijuana joints,
And washes down her brownies with the purple bottle of codeine.
But she tells us not to judge,
Pushing us back with a 'f*ck you' attitude when we offer to help.

Ade tells us he is living the life,
Igbo, shayo, ashewo every day and night.
"Ballin" he calls it,
While waving a middle finger to the camera and vibing to the Lord of 'No mannaz'

He tells us dollars is the only channel he listens to
Benz, the only car he wants to ride
And Euro, the only wise sage he wants to learn from.

The elders laugh from their graves,
For they know the path all too well

I twist and turn the more,
For this is the world my daughters will be born into
This world filled with 'woke', yet incredibly empty people.
