Borussia Dortmund star Axel Witsel has opened up about how he almost joined Real Madrid some years back when he wanted to play in Europe.


Speaking with Goal and Dazn, Witsel revealed he was almost close to signing for the Spanish Side in 2012 but he optioned out because they signed Luka Modric.

I could have joined Real Madirdwhen Jose Mourinho was there. But then Real signed Luka Modric, so a transfer to Madrid made no sense to me,' Witsel Reavealed
