Mzee1Kahuna:Nope, not true. Some are by male primogeniture. From father to son since centuries. Obviously kings have to commend or chastise politicians depending on performance. The freedom to do so depends how closely or not closely aligned politically to the rulers. Primogeniture kings do not suddenly come kings, they prepare for it lifelong. They may better understand their relative political "neutrality" better. Oba of Benin for example. Because Lucky Igbinedion (whose dad is palace chief by the way) messed up big time, people think the palace supports APC/Oshiomhole. But it's not the case. It's about making any govt, past or present know if they have performed well or not. King's have statutory govt allocation. It's peanuts by the way. Most modern kings have built wealth (business, high govt positions, high ranks in armed forces, etc) before becoming kings. 1 Like |

Stupid people! They are making history when the poverty level of people is at alarming rate. The youths of the state are jobless and in despair and yet these good for nothing entities are celebrating. |

It is only in a Movie u see a poor man become King cos of IFA consultation, in real life you can't become a King without being wealthy, connected both home and abroad, and also successful. 1 Like |

iswallker: Of course he was being prepared for the position. Their family was supposed to have been enthroned in 2000 - 2001. It was their turn, but because they didn't have any really powerful person in power, Folagbade forcefully took it from them because be was a very wealthy SAN and was a friend to Otunba Fashawe who was one of Obasanjo's cabal at the time (Guess his name played itself out). That's why the family have been prepping someone to take over after Folagbade, and I can see they've succeeded in doing that. Congrats to them though. 2 Likes |

playboy19: Imagine what Nigeria has turned to? You can’t achieve anything tangible without connection. Shame! I thought as much that the last king rigged it cause i wondered on this forum about two months ago why the Olateru-Olagbegi dynasty seemed to be dominating the Olowo stool Thanks for this information |

When did Owo become an Imperial Class entity? I thought that only the Ooni of Ife held Imperial Rank?? |
