The Federal Government of Nigeria has cleared the air on speculations that it was planning to impose a ban on Big Brother reality TV show, BBNaija.

Director-General of of the National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe told the media, that government was still scrutinizing the content of the reality show.

He said: “If they don’t change the content of Big Brother Naija, I will make a formal report to NBC. I have respect for constituted authority. I will do the right thing the way it should be done.

“I like to follow due process. I didn’t go to challenge Big Brother directly because there is a regulatory body in charge and that’s why a lot of people commended the approach of making a formal complaint to the NBC.

“Also, if our youths are in love with such programmes, the time has come for us to come up with something similar, if they will not change the content, a platform that will showcase our culture, heritage, dressing, food and everything about Nigeria could be preferred.” continue Reading...

Misplaced priority.

Go and follow due process to file complaint against the military killing the police, against the police killing civilians, against herdsmen killing people.

Let me ask, the R18 shown on the show means what to you? Bra size? Well, that's a censor rating okay?! It means the show isn't for kids. If you don't like the content of the show, simply change your DSTV or Gotv channel to Dove Tv and let others decide what they want.

The channels that air the show aren't public stations like NTA. They are private channels. These channels don't impose or shove the show down peoples eyes. What you find offensive, others may find okay, and what you find okay, others may find offensive.

Like I said earlier, take up pressing issues like herdsmen attack on innocent citizens seriously by filing complaint rather than prioritise frivolity.

Inasmuch as the show is rated 18, many bloggers are contributing to the menace. They are forcing the show on the throat of many Nigerians in the name of generating traffic.

I see this coming. But imagine when they finally stop big brother naija. What will be your reaction?
Re: BBNAIJA: Federal Government To Ban Big Brother Naija by Nobody: 8:10pm On Aug 25, 2019
God knows I hate that show but how's that our problem as a kon3?

It's 8:07pm and I don't have light in my house. What do you have to say about that?

Meanwhile.....

If what he's suggesting comes to pass, who will be the moderators? Fellow Nigerians?

Am asking because tribalism will cloud the judgement of the moderators. You don't expect an igbo mod to declare a Yoruba contestant winner and vice versa.

Bottom line

9ja no fit better.

What about those women on DoveTV always talking sex?

They use very graphic language while the channel and the programme are not rated. Are you going to have an "African" version of the programme too?

Don't many Nigerians reward musicians that promote immortality or many of their lyrics are good I suppose?

My brother,I do not watch big brother but am amazed about the way some Nigerians go about this matter.some of them you see would be shouting"ban big brother",while on their way to a porn shop, hypocrites. They hide and stay all night waiting for action, then in the morning, they open their maggot infested mouth to shout"ban big brother",so their wives and husbands will think that they are clean.
