Thanks... I don't really care much about the ball joint issue but the transmission one bothers me... Can I still go ahead and purchase it?

Yes, you can. It has a nice interior (dashboard) and impressive performance.

Do the car right- service well and use the recommended ATF. Honda EOD doesn't tolerate maltreatment, unlike that other one whose name I won't mention. cheesy

some peoole are even saying that regardless if u use the right gear oil or not , the gear will still fail

They are right. Honda makes great engines but not SK great transmissions. The engines will outlast the transmissions. Its often a miracle in the automotive circle to see a Honda transmission hit the 250k Mile mark without needing a rebuild or replacement

Yea, I heard that at some point it must succumb to its nature. No personal experience though.

I even saw one Honda EOD year 2004 V6 automatic today, 450k.. My close frnd wants to sell it.. very neat.. not up to two years used
Re: Why Are Used Honda EOD Sold For Cheap Price? by temmym4(m): 12:39am On Aug 30, 2019
I knew someone who had one back then. 2003 V6. He takes care of it like an apple of the eye. Car travels well and performance is a top notch.
Between 2012 and 2017, he changed the gear twice. Mind you, gear is not close to been cheap.
Despite changing ball joints regularly, car still managed to pull 3 times in my presence.

He has the 2005 DC now, I4, quite reliable compared to the older. But still the same sickness.
Someone actually advice some tacking the joints by welder or blacksmith (not sure) i actually think it worked because the car is 2 years old and no leg pull despite travelling almost everyday.

Aside the gear and leg issue, i ll definitely choose EOD/DC over their counterparts. The premium feel of an accord is superb, this is the ONLY reason why the owners dont complain.

Also, remember parts are not cheap, except of course u want the knock-off parts which you ll eventually blame yourself on.

The issue relating to Steering is mostly common too my brother (Power steering pump, steering rack, power steering oil leakage)

Accord is only reliable if you have some cash to spend and a competent mechanic at your disposal.

OP, I don't think its peculiar to EOD. Go and check the prices of Nissans, Mitsubishi, Mazda e.t.c of the same year and you'll even be more shocked. The only exception is Toyota for obvious reasons.

PS: I have never met a mechanic who recommends buying a vehicle that's not a Toyota cheesy

After your purchase, don't forget to set aside some money for a new tranny. Trust me, whether you treat it well or not, it is bound to give way with time. Sooner or later!

Your friend must be using fake ball joints.

Ive been using mine for more than 5 years. All i do is to lubricate the joints at every service, usually 7 to 8 months interval.

I am so attached to that car that i find it difficult to dispose even after i acquired evil spirit.

Ah bros, do you want to die shocked? Nissans are very sensitive cars and won't forgive you for the slightest abuse. Stay away.

For the EOD, if you must get one, make sure it's the I4 and not V6 engine. The V6 is the one most plagued with transmission issues. As someone earlier advises, do use the right transmission fluid and the car would serve you. For the ball joint, replace only with OEM parts if you don't want the frequent 'leg pull'. Most people that complain of theirs use substandard parts. OEM parts are noticeably more expensive but would last you years.

Also, remember you are getting a Nigerian used car. There are more chances that the car has been abused by previous owner. Forget clean exterior and interior. Go with a competent mechanic (not kazeem) for thorough inspection before putting in your money. If possible, do a test drive for up to 20km and take note if the check engine light comes up thereafter. Do perform a vehicle history report too. You don't want to purchase a lemon.
