STF.. They were saying different things . The willfully ignorant minister was saying the size of man’s household...should be used to determine his credit worthiness while the knowledgeable banker was saying that the man’s income should be considered given the fact servicing of his existing loan is based on his income not the size of his household.. GOT it?

Some ppl make themselves wilfully ignorant!

What do you think she was referring to by the word REVENUE - which in your case you correctly substituted with the word INCOME?

Get off your high horse and stop being rude.

Come on you’re less dafter than this. Ur hero was talking debt, which is really not her specialty. CBN actually lectured her on debt, which is their specialty

We all know this is a lie but keep fooling yourself. Buhari is yet to borrow additional fund since the election, Nigeria debt profile was over flogged before n after the presidential election with overwhelming evidence that PDP already ruined Nigeria debt n credit profile. Ebele later buries only for Buhari to manage what was left but your life riddled with lies must sha exhibit it foolishness.

Continue !

OK, Mr. Know it All, what is her speciality that excludes her as an experienced and qualified accountant from speaking on the issue of our national debt (notwithstanding fact that the minister of finance is 1st member on the list of the economic team and therefore privy to all the facts about the economy) and also what gives the CBN the monopoly of opinion on the subject matter at the exclusion of others?

Pls back up your claim with evidence.

The issue isnt debt to gdp. It tax to debt or tax to gdp. The ststes and federal government collect next to nothing living off a oil rents. They would still need to be responsible obviously.

Lmao , the tax to gdp ratio of Afghanistan is even higher than ours. This is not a serious country at all.

Just as I thought; can't address the issue raised, therefore resorting to insults and evasive tactics.

My friend, it's a matter of simple comprehension and common sense; go back a read what the minister said (even though she didn't elaborate on her point like CBN did); you do not even need to have a specialist knowledge on the subject matter to understand they were saying and arrive at the conclusion that both said the same thing - though I am beginning to appreciate that not everyone is blessed with basic comprehension.

You’re congenitally bereft of Econs 101 fundamentals. Debt to GDP ratio is different from Debt to income ratio. Not the same, stop dishing your willful ignorance for sale

And you sir are incorrigible to the point of stupidity for insisting on advertising your abysmal comprehension.

I challenge you to comb through all my posts and show me where I mentioned debt to GDP ratio - you will find none whatsoever.

Therefore do not put words into my mouth; what I mentioned was the SIZE (i.e quantum amount) not the Debt to GDP ratio.

The minister in her speech, expressed less concern on our debt profile (whether in terms of our debt to GDP ratio or any other permutation; because it was less important) but on our (low level) REVENUE.

In other words; the amount of your debt is not as important as having the capacity to pay back, in terms of the income i.e. REVENUE you are generating - to at least service and eventually pay off the debt.

The minister was clearly worried that we as country were not generating enough revenue; which was more or less what the CBN was saying - there was therefore no clash between them; except in their expressed perspective of the same problem - one being less pessimistic than the other.

Kindly therefore endeavour to read more carefully and understand the issue before you to rush to comment - this is how many of you fail JAMB (and blame it on the village witch) because many never bother to read let alone understand the question before as always rushing to the wrong conclusion.

The advice is free; next time make sure you use it.

Stop exposing your chronic lack of comprehension; you keep harping about Debt to GDP ratio; yet neither the minister (in the article) nor I (in my posts) made reference to it.

I repeat; despite what may seem like a disagreement in opinion, the crux of concern of both the minister and the CBN was our seemingly low REVENUE capacity to service/offset our debt.

Go back and brush up on your comprehension.
