Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's first post-independence leader, has died aged 95. Mugabe had been receiving treatment in a hospital in Singapore since April before his demise.

Late Mugabe was ousted in a military coup in 2017 after 37 years in power. His early years were praised for broadening access to health and education for the black majority, but his later years were marked by human rights abuses and corruption.

1924: Born in 1924, then went on train and become a teacher

1964: Imprisoned by Rhodesian government

1980: Wins post-independence elections

1996: Marries Grace Marufu

2000: Loses referendum, pro-Mugabe militias invade white-owned farms and attack opposition supporters

2008: Comes second in first round of elections to Tsvangirai who pulls out of run-off amid nationwide attacks on his supporters

2009: Amid economic collapse, swears in Tsvangirai as prime minister, who serves in uneasy government of national unity for four years

2017: Sacks long-time ally Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, paving the way for his wife Grace to succeed him

November 2017: Army intervenes and forces him to step down.

Robert Mugabe... One of Africa's last Crazy Bold Leaders who didn't give a hoot about the western world powers. He hated the white man and loved blacks so much that he went brutal on them especially his own people.

He was a real mad man. A dictator and a leader who fought to liberate his people from the White man's rule but couldnt liberate his people from poverty and despair, not that he tried to anyway. He was more concerned with keeping the power and that he did for 37 years.

So he is finally gone.... Wow... Adieu Mugabe.

The only thing I can say I enjoyed about this man was his wicked sense of humour.... a very blunt personality I tell you dipped in the sea of crazy humor.
