Many of these new artists lift lyrics and complete sequence of sounds from old school artists without clearance from the owner of the intellectual property rights.
I have heard lines of songs lifted completely from Fela,Comfort Omoge,Victor Uwaifo,Haruna Ishola,Osadebe,and Dan Maraya Jos without due recognition or accreditation.
The most annoying thing is the fact that the owners of the intellectual property rights appear not to understand how to fight their battle and rather come on to social media to plead for the offending party to recognize them with some peanuts.
The proper thing to do is to sue the offender for intellectual property theft!
The case between the estate of the late Marvin Gaye and the artistes Pharell and Robin Thicke over the song "Blurred lines" which was found to have infringed Gaye's song,"Gotta give it up"
Pharell and Thicke ended up paying over 7 million dollars to Marvin Gaye's estate.
