The Silent Xenophobic Attacks On Nigerians In South Africa by ghettochild(m): 3:40pm On Sep 07, 2019 |
Yesterday, I got information on some other
xenophobic attacks being meted out on Nigerians in
South Africa that's silent but KILLING.
I was told that most Nigerian men in SA who are
married to SA Women are still unable to get their
resident permit even after 10-20yrs of living in SA.
This is against their law which has a provision for
foreigners who are married to SA women to get
their permit after some months.
As we all know, even the almighty US does not
suffer Nigerians like this.
This is one of the major reasons why most Nigerian
men, though married to SA women, can't come
home with their family. They are trapped in SA as if
they are in jail because they may not get another
chance to get into SA to be with their family if they
risk a trip to Nigeria.
Another act of wickedness is, making it HARD for
Nigerians in SA to rent or buy an apartment in their
name, even when they have gotten SA resident
permit. Most landlords and housing agents would
treat Nigerians with utmost hate
Because most Nigerians are denied the rights to
citizenship even after marriage to SA women or
men, it's impossible for them to open bank account
no matter how legitimate their job is. This leaves
most of them with the option of keeping money in
their spouse or girlfriend's bank account since
Police could raid their house any time and take
away any huge some found not minding if it's age-
long savings. That saving of money in SA women
account is a risk few men could take.
Even those who were lucky to get a resident permit
could have it revoked at any time by the SA
government for no REASON. This has led to most
Nigerians in SA losing their monies in the bank as
they need their papers to be able to make
withdrawal. This wickedness is usually visited on
rich Nigerian guys so that their government could
confiscate their money in the bank.
Children of Nigerians in SA are not left out as they
are constantly bullied in school by other kids for
being super intelligent and taking home every
award/scholarship.
These animosity is silent Xenophobic war and
worse than the occasional Xenophobic attacks we
see from far.
It's harder to be a Nigerian in SA than to be a
Nigerian anywhere else in the world.
It's painful to see South Africans live and freely do
business in Nigeria but our people don't enjoy same
in their country.
Nigeria certainly doesn't care about how her citizens
are treated around the world or this won't be
happening!" |
