There used to be a time when nairaland ad spaces were mostly occupied by industry big brands and large corporations but the same can't be said of recent times, nairaland ad spaces has become the ground for small scale and upcoming brands who - in my opinion are oblivious to the reality of the once revered discussion board that is now a shadow of it's past.

Why is that? Well to any observing old timer the answer is the drop in quality and original content, users have become notorious of plagiarising contents from numerous sources and passing it of as their own and also the site has become a reaction ground for tweets and Instagram posts. It's now a Haven for misinformation and mediocre opinions.

There is hardly any noteworthy discussion done on the topics that Grace the site despite it being, primarily, a discussion board.

The quality of it's user base have deteriorated to the extent that only a handful of it's users are well known to contribute meaningful topics and posts.

So today while scrolling through nairaland I came across something the platform had long abandoned, Google ads. Years ago, nairaland ditched that form of advertisment for their own developed targeted ads to have more control over their finance and also grow their revenue, but it seems they have been unable to achieve that financial freedom and have now resorted to going back to their vomit. If this isn't a clear indication to the site owner that this site has been on decline for a long time now, I don't know what.

Sure the number of registered users keep rising and the hundreds of posts are made every day, but hardly any of that can be considered quality. This platform used to be exceptional, but now, it's become the resting place of mediocrity and intellectual handicapping.

Nairaland is a brand name on it's own, and a good platform for marketing.

During election period is when nairaland makes money most
And what do u expect when some particular group of people have turn this place to where they spill their hate and blame other people
I mean,we can't have meaniful discussions here again
Some of these people are better off on lindaikeji but have turn this place to where they blame other people and they don't contribute anything meaningful other than gloat and boast here on nairaland

Op, you should have observed that since 2014 till date, Nairaland has been turned into A religious Christianphobia site.

It was also reduced to an ethnic champion site. Championing embers of ethnic superiority of one over others.

How do you expect it to remain the same when it turned itself to a media platform to spread falsehood and oppression against the Igbos.

It's still not too late to revert to the real deal that made it very acceptable to all Nigerians.

No big brand will want to advertise where snake, cyber bullying, political fights/insults, ethnic/tribal and religious intolerance are the order of the day.

Haven't you also noticed that no brand, whether big or small, repeats advert here? Adverts here don't have any conversion rate.

For the past three years, this place has remained in the neighborhood of 2.5million registered members and possibly about 20% monikers are duplicate and dormant account. This place is no growing!!!

The above posts are nothing but the truth.
Post a news abt the yoruba or igbo people that is negative, instead of condemning as a Nigerian, you will see something like NCAN has arrived, NA DEM THE BROWN ROOF OR THE FLAT HEAD AND YAMIRI.
All these are not needed.

Sometimes you look at the currency your client will pay with and make a wise choice

If mediocrity feeds the admin, he’ll leave the act to flourish. One can’t blame somebody too myopic to experiment new ways to make a business expand.
