If u blame PDP for this just know that the worst is currently going on within APC. They are birds of a feather. By the time this APC leaves the stage then u will know things have already gone messy. They are all there to steal and loot, nothing more. APC could still pay their worker cos they have more resources to pay from government purse. They are all thieves.
APC is a merger of ANPP,ACN,CPC,APGA.
This parties have been in existence throughout the 16yrs of pdp rule as opposition party. they didn't depend on federal purse to survive.
Pdp left power 4years ago and they re already bankrupt because they can no longer loot from national treasury

This one doesn't even know how to lie... Smh.

If this useless party knows what is good for them, they should seek coalition with other mushroom parties, weed out the corrupt imbeciles, go back to the grassroots to begin making amends and winning back the confidence of the populace, and start grooming leaders after the heart of a better Nigeria... All these must be done long before 2023.

Whatever they do, please they should retain my brother Farahaideed. Life as it is is already been too hard for him so much so he made a strong statement in support and encouragement of corruption today. He opined that without corruption, money may never get into hands such as his.

They should plead with Wike to sheathe his sword. In Rivers coffers lie the salvation of pdp. I wouldn't want to see pdp crushed completely though. Such a situation could set the state for tyranny by APC.

All we want is a great and prosperous Nigeria.

Should PDP not win the 2023 elections, they might just become a regional party. This shows how problematic our political institutions are, they depend on government to survive, meaning that any political party that doesn't have a thread in government is dead. How do we stamp out corruption when the state is paying unallocated salaries of a political parties.

VIDEO: Another video of Ganduje ‘collecting’ dollars surfaces online

Umar Ganduje, governor of Kano state, who has been trending for the wrong reason, is in the news yet again.

Two videos of him allegedly collecting kickback from contractors handling projects in the state were released by Daily Nigerian, an online platform, earlier in the month.

The governor has denied the videos, saying his political opponents doctored them in order to tarnish his reputation.

The Kano assembly subsequently set up a committee to investigate the allegations.

When he appeared before the assembly, Jaafar Jaafar, publisher of Daily Nigerian, said the videos were not doctored.

He told the investigative panel of how a contractor had informed him of the governor’s practice of “receiving kickbacks” from every contractor in the state.

Easy.
Save and contribute our own money to the parties and claim ownership of our political process from the thugs and godfathers whom we have allowed to hold us hostage presently.
Push for campaign finance reforms with our lawmakers at the state and federal levels as the Brits did almost 150 years ago.

Corrupt and Illegal Practices Prevention Act 1883

The Corrupt and Illegal Practices Prevention Act 1883 (46 & 47 Vict c. 51) was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. It was a continuation of policy to make voters free from the intimidation of landowners and politicians. It criminalised attempts to bribe voters and standardised the amount that could be spent on election expenses.

Background

Despite the Ballot Act 1872, William Ewart Gladstone's Second Ministry (1880-85) knew that to make voting less corrupt, certain measures were required to eradicate intimidation and bribery. The act meant that the expenses of candidates were published and could be measured against a limit as to how much could be spent on "political campaigns". It laid down rules for the conduct of parliamentary candidates, including a strict limit on expenses. The limit was set at £710 for the first 2,000 voters in the candidate's constituency, and then £40 for every additional 1,000 voters. Note, also, that each candidate was limited to just one party agent (though in exceptional circumstances the candidate did have the right to petition parliament for more). Strict record keeping was required as proof that expenses were not being exceeded. Poorer men could also become parliamentary candidates and under the Act stiff penalties were imposed on those breaking it such as heavy fines and imprisonment.

Although it did not entirely remove corruption from the voting system, it strengthened the Corrupt Practices Act 1854 and was aided by a number of disenfranchised, small boroughs.

The Parliamentary Elections Corrupt Practices Act 1885 clarified that an employer was legally permitted to give paid time off from work to allow employees to vote, so long as this was given equally to all voters and not along party lines.

The Act, except section 42, was repealed by the Representation of the People Act 1949 (c.68), ss.175 & 176(2)&(3) & Sch.9; and the Election Commissioners Act 1949 (c.90), s.21 & Sch.

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has notified staff at its headquarters and at the Peoples Democratic Institute, of its plan to sack them.

The NWC set up a committee on the matter but is yet to receive and discuss the report of the committee.

It was further learnt that the downsizing of the workers was the main agenda of a recent meeting between the staff of PDP and PDI and an official of PDP NWC, who requested not to be named.

It was also gathered that the party plans to pay the staff that would be affected their severance allowances as contained in the party’s Establishment Manual signed by the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

According to the highlights of the meeting signed by the Chairman of the PDP/PDI Staff Welfare Committee, Mr. Innocent Nwankwo, the monthly wage bill of the establishment staff (PDP/PDI) amounted to about N15m while their total staff strength is 96.

It was learnt that the plan to downsize the workers was necessitated by the need to rightsize the workforce, reduce redundant staff members and the over-bloated wage bill.

Nwankwo said that the rightsizing was not necessarily because the party’s fortune was dwindling.

He added that the party was still strong financially as it had 16 State Governors, 44 senators, 131 House of Representatives members and about 390 members of States’ Houses of Assembly.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs . Winifred Oyo -Ita , has said President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of the reinstatement of a former Chairman of the Pension Reforms Commission , Mallam Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service.
She however said she warned the President against it .

Oyo - Ita said that her warning was based on the implications such reinstatement would have on the anti - corruption war of the Federal Government .

The HoS stated this in her memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari .
The memo , with reference number HSCSF/ HCSF/ LU/ COR/FCSC/ 750 / T, was dated October 23, 2017 .

The memo , titled , “ Re : Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, ” was received in the office of the Chief of Staff to the President on October 23.

A copy of the memo was sighted by our correspondent in Abuja on Monday .

The President had directed the HoS to investigate the circumstances that surrounded the return of Maina to the civil service.

He gave the directive following the public outcry that trailed Maina’ s reinstatement.

Maina, whose whereabouts is still unknown , has been accused of embezzling pensioners ’ funds running into billions of naira and is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Explaining further , the HoS said she met the President after the Federal Executive Council meeting of Wednesday, October 11 , where she verbally warned Buhari against bringing Maina back to the service.

She , however , did not say what the response of the President was after briefing him .
