The Presidency has disproved claims that the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been sidelined after a change of the Economic Management Team (EMT) headed by Prof. Osinbajo, Igbere TV reports.

President Muhammadu Buhari had recently set up a new-look economic advisory team which has economists such as Prof. Charles Soludo, Bismarck Rewane, and others, to take over from the team previously overseen by the Vice President.

Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Thursday on Channels TV dismissed the claims as false, Igbere TV reports.

Mr Adesina said the presidency is united and that Buhari is only working for the good of Nigerians.

He said that the insinuation that there was a rift between Osinbajo and Buhari was being spread by detractors of the Federal Government.

“The Vice President is the number two man in the country…The new economic advisory body can also relate with the Vice President as necessary,” Adesina said.

“It’s just some Nigerians who want to drive a wedge between the President and the VP, that read meanings into everything and insinuate but there’s no need for that.”

There is no cause for confusion in all of these.

Muhammad Buhari was elected the president and Yemi Osinbajo was elected his vice president. That's what it is. The arrangement has not changed. The VP can never be the President as far the president is in office.

Even in our local environment, chairmen of societies, associations and organizations is has more weight no matter how resourceful and active his vice chairman may be.

So why all these ado about nothing?

This are mere advisery commitee not recognised by the law.. las las Economic Council recognised by the law is headed by Professor Osinbajo and its members consist of CBN governors, monister of finance and State Governors.

No matter what Dumb people call Abba Kyari or any informal Cabal, except the President personaly endorses a memo with his signature, anything written by Abbakyari's office as a mere executive secetary or chief of staff is as useless as a used tissue paper... he dare not even talk at the Federal Executive Council meetings, Secuirity Council meeting,Economic council meeting or chambers of state meeting..

As much as Obasanjo wanted Atiku out of his Government, he was powerless as he couldnt get 2/3 legislature to impeach him, even when Osinbajo fired Lawal daura of the DSS Buhari was powerless to re-instate him

Can also means not mandatory. When you say 'can' it simply means an option. When you say 'will' or 'must' that's a mandate.

Also, the EAT is just an advisory committee that doesn't have power to implement anything. This is just a political move. They can give advice, but Buhar/Kyari can either accept or reject it.

The former Economic Management Team (EMT) headed by Prof. Osinbajo had the powers to implement.

What Buhari is doing is to withdraw power from Osinbajo.
