The theory of Language evolution explains the emergence and development of language in human societies. This research is, of course, a difficult one as it leaves no empirical data to analyze. The topic of language evolution was abandoned for over centuries around 1866 When the Linguistic Society of Paris banned any discussion of the topic until the later 1980’s.

Today, the study of language evolution has become fashionable and adventurous; however, language origins do not readily lend themselves to the formation of testable hypotheses, or rigorous testing of any sort. What data will allow us to conclude that one model or another best explains how language arose? Where does language come from?

THEORIES OF LANGUAGE EVOLUTION

Physical Adaptation
This theory explains that the human physical structure is responsible for his language. Take for instance; walking upright and the transformation of the forehead and the mouth could have produced the typical phonetic apparatus of man between the vocal cords and the lips. Comparing the human physique to that of the ape; Human teeth are upright, not slanting outward like those of apes, and they are roughly even in height. Such characteristics are very helpful in making sounds such as f or v.
