Babangida sends message to Igbos...

Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), on Saturday encouraged Igbos to ensure that Nigerians continue to feel their positive impact.



He said this was due to their tenacity in business enterprises which spans the length and breadth of the country and beyond.

Babangida made the remark in Minna, when the Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA), from the 19 Northern states and Abuja, visited him for his recent 78th birthday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the delegation was led by the IDA president, Chief Chikezie Okezie and the Eze Igbo of Minna, Eze Pampas Wahiwe.

“You should continue to allow your positive impacts to be felt amongst host ethnic nationalities in the country, as you explore business opportunities available.

“Nigerians, Igbos, should ensure they uphold the ideals of Nigeria’s founding fathers.

“An indivisible Nigeria is very necessary and we must do everything possible to remain as one family, though we differ in tribe and tongue,” he said.

Babangida appreciated the Igbos for being very enterprising and determined to succeed by penetrating the nooks and crannies of the country for business exploits.

“You should use the same spirit of enterprise to promote peaceful co-existence among Nigerians, in all that you are doing.

“You have done well to keep Nigeria together. The Igbos are known to have the potential of traveling far and wide, exploring new frontiers and business opportunities,” he said.

Igbo people are biblical Israelites. A blessed people anointed by God. Nigerian leaders and world powers have this information.

As an Igbo man, the reasoning of a typical Northerner baffles me. Why are these people always insisting on "one Nigeria"? Why do the want us all to be together? Everybody knows it is not out of love, so what is it? If Igbos insist on referendum, the speed they will issue quit notice, threaten to deal with Igbos and seize their investments leaves nobody in doubt of their true motives.

The truth is that the Northerners see Igbos as a conquered people who have no right to self determination. For the Northerners, Igbos and indeed Nigeria, are all an extension of the Sokoto Caliphates empire.

Look at Babangida who was one of the young officers of the counter coup that led to program that killed over 50,000 Igbos talking about how Igbos should embrace "one Nigeria".

The same Babangida who participated in a war that killed millions of Igbos.

Babangida and his fellow Northerners dont care about Igbos, they never have and never will. All they care about is maintaining the empire of Othman Danfodio and keeping Igbos as their eternal slaves
