The Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Festus Keyamo, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Employment about one month after his assumption in the office.

A statement from the Director of Information at the Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, said Keyamo would replace Tayo Alasoadura as the Minister of State at the labour ministry while Alasoadura moved the other way. The statement said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the swap.


It said, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate redeployment of two Ministers of State as follows.

“Mr Festus Keyamo, Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs is to move to Ministry of Labour and Employment as Minister of State,

What kind of switch is this.

Though Tayo Alasoadura comes from one of the Niger delta states, Ondo State, he is not from the oil producing part of the state which is the reason for adding Ondo State to the NDDC.

Festus Keyamo’s switch is understandable, which may be due to his being enterprising and ability to initiate a good deal with the Labour unions.

He’s very enterprising. This is very good news for the youths.

Fear of the unknown

But as a Niger Deltan I feel he deserves to be working with the Ministry of Niger Delta. My opinion though.
