The roads are used by your state, why cant you arrange for a 50-50 repair cost? those governors will not do their internal roads nor create the critical alternative ones, they will patch some and come to ask for bogus refund.

between yenagoa and Kaiama, where is the state alternative road to sagbama, kaiama Ekeremo and cross to patani within the state? You only use the federal road

between port harcourt and Andoni before Akwa-Ibom, where is the alternative road to Okrika, Eleme, Onne, Bori or Tai?

From Benin to Agbor, tell me the alternative up to Asaba?

Even the LOkoja road which altertive from up to Abuja?

Only lagos and Ogun have altyernative roads, Ajah-Epe-Ijebu ode, Ikorodu-itoikin-Mosimi-Sagamu

There is Sagamu-kopape abeoukuta-ibadan and ijebu to ibadan between Ogun and Oyo states

Can we have a road from Warri to Sapele, Oghara, Mosoghor outside the overloaded federal road please? just imagine as close as warri is to Sapele, there is no road between them, even the one fro Ugheli beside airport was not liked well to sapele or Oghara .....

WHAT ARE THE STATE GOVERMENTS DOING FOR THEIR PEOPLE? The Grass(root) is the one suffering not Abuja residents!!

Can we have Governors do such alternative roads to cover their state and see if the Federal road will demand the heavy repairs we want to claim on it?

Governors should do their work ...... create or repair any road for your own people to live good life and let god bless you for reducing their burden.

Hehehe..next level directive. Seriously though, this is all shades of wrong because FG is clearly too ethnocentric to want to pay equal attention to all regions. It is mostly Southern governors that are forced to intervene on federal roads. Northern governors don't have to because the president is their brother!

Now if the state governors are asked to steer clear or repair those roads at their expense, what then is the FG doing? If they were doing their jobs will governors have to? Why not look at how to agree on payment modalities and review claims made by the state governments? These idiots in power are fond of either forcing stuff down the throats of Nigerians or absolutely throwing out the baby with the bathwater! They never apply critical thoughts to their policies and decisions!

Ngwa restructure and decentralize power/funds una no gree, dem go turn am to division of Nigeria. Oya be centrally efficient na, impossible! God forbid nonsense!

This just stinks to racism
which one is President is their brother was President their brother during obasanjo's rgime when they accumulated the debt smh

This particular administration is wickedness personified.

From Buhari to Osibanjo to fashola all line up of wicked men.

Very evil bunch of animals in human skin. They allocate funds to school feeding, tradermoni and other scam projects while leaving key issues untouched.

It is not just enough issuing directives asking state governors to back off Fed gov roads. Fashola and his moribund ministry must show commitment at maintaining bad portions of the highways.
The Warri/Benin expressway was reportedly impassable for close to two months. At a time, vehicles coming from Benin to Warri or Portharcourt had to make the long Israelite journey of plying thru Asaba. A journey that would normally take less than an hour lingered on for six or more hours. Long articulated vehicles stayed in the queue, some for over a week. Many collapsed while trying to squeeze a way past.
That was the scenario. No response from the Fed gov.
It took the state government intervention to ensure that one of the lanes was repaired. Right now, work is being done on the second lane.
A gov led by Buhari and Fashola is announcing to the world that if governors are warning up to collect compensations, the should steer clear.
Today, the Enugu/ ONITSHA road is almost unmotorable. Same with the Benin/Abuja highway. Fed gov is not responding to calls to get those roads fixed. But is calling on governors to repair them freely using money from the state purse, or leave them there, watching the citizens languish in pains.
Would any state government even attempt to repair Fed gov roads if we have a responsive and proactive Fed gov?

Perhaps we should also blame NASS
members for reducing the allocation budgeted for roads to suit their selfish interest or whatever reason.

We have never had it this bad in the southeast, not even under Abacha. Aba-Portharcourt road ,Aba-Umuahia,Onitsha-Enugu roads are nightmares and the present government is yet to fix them. This is really pathetic.
Now you know that's it's not the Governor's fault

Do you even know how to read or you lack comprehension skills? I said right there that rather than place a complete embargo, they should explore means of reviewing and agreeing on payment sums and modalities. That way it is not only when the overburdened FG can get to some areas that it'll be fixed. Are you that wretched? Is the FG prepared to fix all bad roads quickly?

Your state governments put together claim they've spent 1 trillion Naira on your roads.

I'm sure you agree they have.
What exactly is the duty of FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works managed by Fashola? He left his job undone. Why then complain about the bills?
By the way, are you in essence saying the the cost would have been less if executed by the fee Fed gov themselves?
undecided grin grin

You can imagine. And they have all the best roads up north while PH and Akwa Ibom that produce oil money have no roads.

People use rope to tie exhausts pipe before they can complete a PH to and fro trip.

This next level eee.
If they think d repair bills are inflated, why not get d intending governors to apply first, then an assessment made and the price agreed on b4 repairs will start?
This govt just wants ppl to suffer

Alternatively do a post project cost evaluation after reviewing the BOQ and other activities related to the road construction and decide on the fair value of the project, post it for public scrutiny. Project cost evaluation for road construction should not be a rocket science. Haba Fashola!
