It appears that the search for the politician that will succeed President Buhari in 2023 has already begun. Each region and different political parties are already vying for their own turn.

Also, from the look of things, every other political bigwig seems to be interested in the race, except the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan. Without any doubt, he has a big role to play during that period, considering the fact that Nigeria has remained on the same spot since he left the office. It will be a scary turn of events if he decides to reclaim power come 2023.

To confirm that he remains in a significant place in that election, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Walid Jibrin, said the PDP BoT will embark on strategic talks and engagements with former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Where you get your constitution? The guy is eligible to contest. But forget all the fake love the guy seems to be getting from his support base. The day GEJ decides to contest, people within his party will pull off their globes and you will know the dept of disrespect many of them harbor against the man.

It will really be interesting for him to really throw in his hat if he dares.

Edited:
This information has been found to be incorrect. GEJ is no longer eligible to contest.

The Constitution has been amended hence you cannot take oath of office for a particular position more than twice.

Former President Jonathan has taken the oath twice when he conpleted President Yardy's tenure and his 4 years.

The law can only be retroactive in this case if GEJ is already president.

Oh, that is interesting. I see that it was even PMB that signed it.
By implication, those claiming that PMB wants 3rd term are dreamers and hallucinators. This law is another barrier in addition to existing law against 3rd term. That is nice to know.

Re: 2023 Presidency: What If Ex-president Jonathan Decides To Contest by XINOIX: 4:40pm On Sep 26, 2019
constitutionally he can't contest because there is an existing law that says if you were to be sworn in 2 times no matter the years you spend it's regarded as 2 terms there by automatically disqualifying you for the 3 term simple

Jonathan should be weary of any set up to further humiliate him.

He is already in the league of elder statemen and should not be lured into any contest
