OkCornel: the electric bus is just a design, not a prototype, it nothing of value in a country without electricity where are all the researchers when we dont have electricity, that is even the first step to development |

lilwetdick: And energy generated from potatoes will propel this vehicles just as they light bulbs in most Nigerian homes right? I'm still awaiting your claims on; 1) NOTAP granting patents without inspection. 2) Covenant University professors awaiting government grants to fund their research. |

OkCornel: The highlighted will infact tell you that nobody needs his products. all your over hyping is just too much, all those first world's first intelligent gaming robot were all PR stunt to sell the product, but as it turns out nobody needed them |

lilwetdick: Read slowly again. He is the co-founder of Reach Robotics, an augmented reality gaming company that creates robots for gaming and for STEM education. Adekunle has partnered with Apple, signing an exclusive distribution deal to sell his product in both the United States and Britain. Reach Robotics shut down on Sept. 2, 2019. One action led to the other. I guess you are telling us Apple never needed his product as well. |

lilwetdick: I dont need to indulge you. I have never worked in Tech or the applied sciences but I know in Health, there is a lot of research by Nigerians-- with the little incentives available. The gap between us and the West keeps increasing however because the system is shambolic. Academics, the staunch ones, still research though. Nonetheless, if you believe your brain is smaller than that of an Oyinbo, that's your business. I am a professional and I can hold my own anywhere in the World. A little self-belief ( on your part) might help your already depleted brain cells however. 1 Like |

OkCornel: The company has shut down, just because it partner with Apple doesnt mean it cant close shop. Partnership does not equal to profit.. stop this your over hype, you are sounding like bloggers that will over hype Nigerians working for facebook, google or any US ttech company like it something remarkable or genius. https://techcrunch.com/2019/09/03/reach-robotics-is-closing-up-shop/ |

HBB1: all these your chubaya does not make one sense, where did it start with comparing oyibo na wa the conversation all through have been inventions of Nigerian Phd Holders in Nigeria and ordinary Nigerians on the street What has race got to do with it |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by OkCornel(m): 12:36am On Sep 30, 2019 |
HBB1: That guy will keep on arguing blindly. Nigerians are making waves overseas, and holding their own in their various fields. Especially with what I've observed in the UK. |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by OkCornel(m): 12:37am On Sep 30, 2019 |
lilwetdick: So since he has nothing to offer, why did Apple partner with him in the first place? Hmmm And why hyping inventions that hasn't made waves in any exhibitions so far? or in use en masse? like the light bulbs powered by potatoes? |

lilwetdick: I asked how many research grants do we have in Nigeria? I gave you an instance of an expert in CCS being frustrated. Nigerian researchers are all bubbling with ideas but the facilities don't exist. You expect a civil servant married with kids to raise the millions required to send his samples abroad for proper analysis? The labs we have here either belong in the past or the efficient equipment operators don't exist. One University imported one equipment and quickly dumped it when they realized they couldn't get someone to operate it. Millions just turned to waste. I remember one man who did his analysis in Russia but while the Nigerian government ignored him, the Russians used his data to make a revolutionary drilling fluid. That's why you see most of them becoming politicians after so many years of frustration. While Nigerian undergraduate geologists are being taught what GPR is and what it is used for, their colleagues in the UK are being taught GPR data interpretation. Something a Nigerian geophysics PHD can't even comprehend. 2 Likes |

lilwetdick:You are getting it all wrong anyway. Without state-of-the-art facilities very little can be done by Nigerian researchers. Alabuku rub or whatever you called it actually used Nigerian researchers to look at some parameters before it became a brand that you are talking about. A lot went underground which you are not aware of!! The fact that Bill Gates and others invented some great things that made life easier for the entire world doesn't not make USA researchers less researchers. Anyone could invent, but the assistance of researchers will still be sought before such invention is made available to the general public and these researchers basically have PhD. There is a systematic approach that needs to be followed regardless. However, it should be noted that you do not need a PhD to invent. In the light of this, tell us what you have invented as someone on the street. If you have not invented anything that has made life easier; I do not think you have a right to continue this discoourse. You cannot shy away from the fact that the inventions done by many street people couldn't see the light of the day as a result of lack of funding as well. I was only against comparing the research outputs of Nigerian researchers with with is obtainable outside the shore of Nigeria. Nigerian researchers have invented some crucial things that are useful to humanity. Professor Oloke, a lautech Microbiologist invented an immune booster (it reduces the CD4 count of HIV patients) that has been commercialised. He even won a presidential award around 2013. This research took him about 10 years are a result of lack of facilities! And many others have done great. That you do not know doesn't mean they haven't invented. Why are Nigerians who travel to countries where state-of-the-art facilities are available doing great? Your sincerity to this question will definitely clear your doubt if you are not being hypocritical. Whenever truth is meant to be said please say it. Do not say because you are not affected you will not say the truth. If you had acquired a PhD in Nigeria I don't think you will be bashing PhD others in Nigeria. No nation will grow technological or otherwise without appropriate educational fundings availability. Maybe you want someone who is underpaid to be using his salary to do research. In a sane clime, researchers are being paid $1500-$2500 for every single paper published. But in case of Nigeria can something similar be said? The screenshot below is shows the conversation between a Nigerian abroad and a Nigerian researcher in Nigeria. Take care... 1 Like 1 Share
