lilwetdick: See how the goal post has shifted from 1) What has Nigerian PhD holders invented? to 2) What they have invented, is it useful? to 3) Have they won Nobel peace prize with their inventions? And by the way, wikipedia na blog abi? |

lilwetdick: Point of correction, you are referring to the peanuts allocated to the universities and colleges of education that can barely sustain the recurrent expenditure of these institutions? |

Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by Nobody: 9:22pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
OkCornel: is that an invention, pls tell for yourself, is it patient under his name or under apple and the way people just write things on article to hype people we dont know of. i can bever believe a blog, the only stuff i believe is official documents |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by Nobody: 9:22pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
HBB1: we are both daft that is why we cant engineer an enabling environment. |

OkCornel: yeah peanuts was allocated to universities and colleage of education but the Phd holders and professors didnt know what to do with the peanut instead of planting the peanut to gain more peanuts, instead they stole the peanut. |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by Nobody: 9:26pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
OkCornel: anybody cant edit wikipedia. i asked all these questions because if we are to be sincere, no invention have come out of Nigeria all the things you are using electronically were invented by researchers , point to a nigerian research, something of commercial value. |

lilwetdick: Hahaha, so this Nigerian's invention has no commercial value abi? Ndubuisi Ekekwe (born July 1975) is a Nigerian professor, inventor, engineer, author, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of First Atlantic Semiconductors & Microelectronics – West Africa's leading embedded systems company. His working experience includes Analog Devices Corp where he co-designed a generation accelerometer for the iPhone and created the company's first wafer level chip scale package for inertial sensor. He is a player in the U.S. semiconductor industry where he develops innovative microchip and invented a micro-controller for medical robots. Early life and education Ekekwe was born in Ovim, Abia State South East Nigeria. He is from the Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria. He attended the Secondary Technical School where he set a record by obtaining 8 distinctions. He then proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Owerri where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering and graduated as his class’ best student. Ndubuisi holds two doctoral and four master's degrees, including an MTech from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ms from Tuskegee University, USA and MBA from University of Calabar. He obtained two Doctorates in Management from St. Clements University and Electrical & Computer Engineering where he specialised in Microelectronics & Medical Robotics Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University, USA. Some of his research work involved manufacturing of integrated circuits with the application of alternative energies, biomedical engineering, medical robotics and neuromorphic engineering. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ndubuisi_Ekekwe |

Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by OkCornel(m): 9:39pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
lilwetdick: Was he the one that invented it? abi apple brand just woke up on its own to design it? Basic logic man. Intangible brands are not humans that invent things. |

Goal post just dey shift; from 1) Mention anything Nigerian PhD holders have invented to; 2) Mention anything Nigerian PhD holders in Nigerian Universities have invented to; 3) What is the commercial value of what they have invented to; 4) How many of them won Nobel peace prize with what they've invented to; 5) Anybody can edit anything on Wikipedia. Lilwetdick, what's the next thing you'll come up with? |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by OkCornel(m): 9:45pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
OkCornel: lilwetdick will also tell us this invention is useless because; 1) The Nigerian inventor didn't win a nobel peace prize OR 2) Anybody can edit and put anything on wikipedia |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by OkCornel(m): 9:49pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
lilwetdick: Did you see where I wrote that the peanuts can barely meet the recurrent expenditure of these universities? E.g. Salaries/wages, maintenance of infrastructure e.t.c. Not to talk of capital expenditure such as expansion projects? Talk less of funding research projects? A country where ASUU goes on strike because the government barely keeps its side of the bargain? |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by Nobody: 9:58pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
OkCornel: interesting, apart from the govt budget for universities, it is govt that pays salaries and wages of lecturers not universities, so their no excuse that all expenditure for a university is recurrent We also have private universities, what have they also produce. nothing you are just an excuse giver imagine if other countries were giving excuses like we do, i am sure they wont be where they are today. |

OkCornel: he lead a team to develop the glasses Viktor Gruev, PhD, assistant professor of engineering at WUSTL, and Ron Liang, PhD, of the University of Arizona, assisted with development of the glasses. WUSTL graduate students Suman Mondal, Shengkui Gao and Yang Liu and postdoctoral fellow Nan Zhu also played key roles. |

lilwetdick: Someone just sits and type stuff out of bias and ignorance; Let's start with a few of these private schools; Covenant Researchers Receive Patent Rights for 8 Inventions; 29th March, 2018 Professor Omoleye, a Professor of Chemical Engineering, was the sole beneficiary of the patent for the ‘Production of wine Brand from Hibiscus Sabdariffa’. He and Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Ojewumi, a faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, were joint recipients of the patent right for the ‘Production of Protein Nutrient from Parkia Biglobosa Seed’. The patent right for ‘Integrated Dual Powered Electric Automobile Engine’ was awarded to Professor Omoleye and Mr. Olusegun Igbamerun, a Senior Technologist at the Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation, and Discovery (CUCRID). Both were also jointly awarded the patent right for the invention of ‘Violation Self Reporting Vehicle Speed Limiter’. Also, together with Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Ekem, Professor Omoleye earned a patent right for the ‘Production of Dry Fermented Ogi from Corn and Guinea Corn’. Professor Francis Idachaba of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) was awarded patent rights for two products. They are ‘Pipeline Leak Inhibitor Tool for Onshore and Offshore Crude Oil Pipeline networks’ and ‘Offshore Pipeline Monitoring Tool’. Another faculty from the EIE Department, Dr. Victor Matthews, received a patent right for the invention of an ‘Intelligent Executive Chair’. The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), an Agency of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, facilitated the award of patent rights to the Covenant University researchers. NOTAP, amongst other functions, promotes innovation, patenting and intellectual property; offers technology advisory and support services; and commercialisation of Research and Development results. https://covenantuniversity.edu.ng/News/Covenant-Researchers-Receive-Patent-Rights-for-8-Inventions#.XZEb0yhKg2w |

OkCornel: goals are not shiffting, take the first 4 questions and use it to answer any inventions Most Inventions in Nigeria that helping people and are of commercial value arent invented by Phd holders but by ordinary people on the street. even some of them are without education. |

lilwetdick: And whose input is most critical here? Oh well, since he's a Nigerian, he has no capacity to do anything useful isn't it? Thankfully, we all know who led this team is a capable and competent Nigerian. |
Re: UK: Changes To Visa, Immigration Rules Effective October 1 by HBB1(m): 10:10pm On Sep 29, 2019 |
lilwetdick: Speak for yourself! You think Bill gates just woke up one day and decided to make computers? Or Steve Jobs woke up in Mushin and made the iPhone? At the time when very few Universities had computers, Gates' high school had a top grade computer courtesy of their PTA (donations). His family was upper middle class, hence he enjoyed certain benefits several millions of kids couldn't enjoy. Jobs' Father indulged him so much, that he sold his house, so he could attend the high school he (Steve Jobs) wanted. Is it someone whose kids have not eaten that will think research? Will you dream of space travel when your family is starving? Our researchers have now become 'Entrepreneurs' all in a bid to survive-- our country is poor and visionless, and so important sectors will suffer. It is obvious you don't understand how life works-- you think people just stand up someday and succeed. Self made men?! Shior! A man is the product of his environment, there are no self made people anywhere! Rich people keep on producing rich children while the poor one's recycle poverty. That's why Nigerians are travelling abroad and doing better than they would ever have done back home. You need a very big springboard to jump from if you are disadvantaged and unfortunately many of us are. 4 Likes |

lilwetdick: You mean an import driven economy like Nigeria? I pray tell, mention some of these inventions by "ordinary people on the street" that are used en-masse by Nigerians. We are waiting. 1) Light Bulb? 2) Generator? 3) Matches? 4) Toothpick? 5) Refrigerator? |

OkCornel: Professor Omoleye, a Professor of Chemical Engineering, was the sole beneficiary of the patent for the ‘Production of wine Brand from Hibiscus Sabdariffa’. - zobo Dr. (Mrs) Modupe Ojewumi, a faculty in the Department of Chemical Engineering, were joint recipients of the patent right for the ‘Production of Protein Nutrient from Parkia Biglobosa Seed’ - production of protein from locust bean, something people in the village have been doing The rest inventions do not have commercial value, there are already tools in existence created for it. |

lilwetdick: Professor Francis Idachaba of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) was awarded patent rights for two products. They are ‘Pipeline Leak Inhibitor Tool for Onshore and Offshore Crude Oil Pipeline networks’ and ‘Offshore Pipeline Monitoring Tool’. Another faculty from the EIE Department, Dr. Victor Matthews, received a patent right for the invention of an ‘Intelligent Executive Chair’ Apparently, lilwetdick the nairaland valuation expert, suddenly concludes that the Pipeline Leak Inhibitor Tool for Onshore and Offshore Crude Oil Pipeline networks’ and ‘Offshore Pipeline Monitoring Tool’ which is critical in crude oil exploration and production has no commercial value. Amazing logic. |

OkCornel: It is not used and it has no commercial value , arent you the one that said we import things, most players in the offshore on onshore business are foreign companies and they rely on their foreign tools, so stop deceiving your self. |
