Acing the GRE/GMAT is the most important part of a successful application to graduate schools in the US and to some schools in Canada. Application letters, undergraduate GPA, and letters of recommendation all matter but not nearly as much as the GRE or GMAT score. As small as the GRE/GMAT registration fee may appear, it is observed that many Nigerians still struggle to be able to afford it. In light of this, Dr. Michael Taiwo, a US-based Nigerian engineer is instituting a support for Nigerians wishing to study in those two countries. The support - Payment of registration fees for two candidates for GRE and one candidate for GMAT - Mentoring Eligibility The scholarship award is open to final year students in Universities in Nigeria as well as recent graduates (who graduated not earlier than 2013) Candidate must have graduated with a CGPA of 4.0 in a 5-point system (or equivalent CGPA if not based on a 5-point scale) or, in the case of final year students, have such CGPA as at end of the penultimate year. Application Interested candidates should send an email to jarushub@gmail.com with the following information: - Email subject: Application for Michael Taiwo Scholarship (GRE or GMAT as applicable) - Name - School - Course of study - Year of graduation - CGPA - Short note (not more than 10 lines) on why you want your registration for the exam financed Application closes 15 October 2019. Please note that shortlisted candidates will be invited for a test to hold in Lagos in the last week of October 2019. https://www.jarushub.com/1st-annual-michael-taiwo-gre-gmat-scholarship-awards/ 5 Likes 4 Shares |

Why don't you peg that 4.0/5 to just a 2.1? I understand that you want the best though |

Jarus:Sir, what's the equivalent of 4.0 out 5 points for schools with a 7-point scale (UI)? |

Jarus:Kudos to oga jarus and the organizers. Number of lines will be longer on a laptop than a smartphone. Using number of words would have been clearer. Hope other influential members can organize a similar initiative for PG students schooling in N.igeria. |

Geofavor:I know. That's quite straightforward. The issue is, GPA for each session is arrived at in a different way for individual courses in the 2 systems. So, 5.6 on a 7-point scale is not really an equivalent of 4.0 on its 5-point counterpart per se. |

I really hope I get this scholarship.. my CGPA is 4.61/5.00 and I am interested in pursuing MSc/PhD program in Biotechnology in USA. I really need GRE because it is a major requirement to help me secure an admission and international scholarship. I will also b happy to have a mentor guide me through my application process. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

I have researched on a few US schools but my progress have been slow because of the GRE requirement which I am unable to afford. PS: I just rounded my National Service on 4th of this month and I am yet to get a job. Evkunle: 1 Like |
