My dear at a point there were undeclared cease fire from the Nigerian camp for months. They were tired and disoriented. They could not match their biafran counterparts in warfare.The only thing left in their arsenal was the starving to death of the Biafran population through blockade. People were dying more from starvation than military incursion. The most affected were children. What do you expect Ojukwu to do? Continue the waiting game while his children die off. He knew the game plan was mass genocide so he gallantly took his exit.

If you want to know how useless the Nigerian army is check out the little exercise with militants in the Creek of Niger Delta. Nigerian government had to offer amnesty to end militancy.
