Igbo Deserve To Be President Of Nigeria But ... By Prof Iyorwuese Hagher by Naajjii: 7:18am On Oct 06, 2019 |
A former presidential aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher, has said that the Middle Belt is best suited to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. He also said the Igbo deserve to be President of Nigeria but have to be prepared to negotiate with the other regions. Hagher, who had served twice as a minister, two time as an ambassador and also a former senator, lamented that the Middle Belt is the most oppressed ethnic group in the country. “I know where it [presidency] shouldn’t go. It should not go to the Northwest again. They have had more than their fair share of democratic presidents,” he told Sun. “Having said that, I believe as a former presidential aspirant that, Nigeria will be shocked in 2023. “There is an unfortunate leadership recruitment process that is so unequal and so unpatriotic. “The Nigerian citizens have no say in who becomes their president. They are too poor to make informed choices, and too poorly organised to fund their candidates. “The entire recruitment process is rigged in favour of the ex-military-business and corrupt politician complex; that holds sway. But 2023 is nearby. “It will make or mar Nigeria. The bell is tolling away. I can’t speak for the South East. They deserve to be President of Nigeria and should be president when they are prepared to negotiate with others. “When they are ready to organise their leaders to act with dignity and not with mercenary spirit. When they can rein in their hubris and discipline their youth, then, they can negotiate with other power centers. “But when you look at things at the moment, the country is run by the Northwest, and Northeast to the exclusion of the North Central Nigerian Middle-Belters. “The people of South-East are exceptional, but they have brought unspeakable pain to the rest of Nigeria. They are the image of Nigeria the world sees and it is a bad image. “The Igbo problem is not so simplistic as to be solved by fiat by the desire for a Nigerian president of Igbo descent. It is a serious problem of a socially unhinged society that needs to be reconstructed and re-humanised. “The Igbo intellectuals who are silent on issues affecting the relegation of the Igbo globally are a problem. They are the enforcers of the status https://dailypost.ng/2019/10/05/2023-ex-presidential-candidate-hagher-reveals-region-perfectly-suited-take-buhari/ |

If Nigeria means well, an igbo will be elected the president of Nigeria in 2023. Anything short of this is satanic, xenophobic and anti people and will be furiously and fiercely resisted 2 Likes |

I can’t speak for the South East. They deserve to be President of Nigeria and should be president when they are prepared to negotiate with others. It’s good this statement is not from a south west leader. It is left for those affected to take the advice. Enough said! 3 Likes 1 Share |

All zones in Nigeria produced President except North-East but still they're not panicking and humble. Gowon, IBB, Abdussalam Abubakar all are from Middlebelt/North-Central. Though Abacha's origin is traced to Bornu but he's more Kano by birth. |

“The people of South-East are exceptional, but they have brought unspeakable pain to the rest of Nigeria. They are the image of Nigeria the world sees and it is a bad image. what image is this mischevious so called prof talking of? is it terrorism? boko Haram and killer herdsmen are not powered by Igbos. corruption? championed by the North and a general malaise. illiteracy and polio? they are not Igbo specialty. is it yahoo yahoo? a general southern Nigeria disease. drug trafficking? maybe Igbos dominate this internationally but not internally. bad governance? not Igbos. Hiv/Aids? the profs state is even worse here than the Igbos this man should concentrate on his middle belt region getting the presidency without disparaging the great Igbo tribe. He want to correct the Igbos and set terms as if the presidency is his to give. who is he by the way? Has he addressed and corrected all the societal ills and wrongs in his native Benue? The parable of the speck and plank in the eye comes to mind here. |
