We have scars on us which is the fingernails of the past. It might not be that of love. Perhaps a painful past but if you are lucky enough to be without scars of the painful past then do not judge another person's scars because you do not how they were made. Scars of love Some years ago on a hot summer day, a little boy decided to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving shoes, socks and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as he swam towards the middle of the lake, an alligator was swimming towards the shores. His mother in the house was looking out the window and saw the two as they were getting closer and closer together. In utter fear, she ran to the water yelling to her son as loud as she could. Hearing the voice, the boy made U-turn to swim to his mother but it was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator reached him. From the dock, the mother grabbed him by the arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. The alligator was much stronger than the mother just as the mother was much passionate never to let go. A farmer happened to drive by, stopped and assisted by shooting the alligator. Luckily, after weeks in the hospital, the boy survived. His legs were extremely scarred by the attack of the animal. And on his arms were deep scratches of his mother's fingernails dugged into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved. When the newspaper reporter came to interview the boy after the trauma, asked him if would show him his scars. The boy lifted his pant legs. And with a great pride, lifted his arms and said " I have scars on the arms too but i have them because my mother wouldn't let go. You and i can identify with the boy. We have scars too. Not from an alligator but from a painful past. Some of those scares are unsightly and have caused us deep regrets. But, some wounds, dear reader, are because God wouldn't let go. In the midst of your struggles, he has been there and holding on to you. You are a child of God. He loves you and wants to protect you. The swimming hole of life is filled with peril and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack. That is when the tug-of-war begins and if you have his scars on your arms be very grateful. He did not and will never let you go. Never judge another person's scares because you do not know how they were made.
