Jigawa state governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has appointed a special assistant to each of his three wives. Of the 51 Special Assistants that were appointed by the governor, there is also a special assistant for street light as well as for population control.

According to a copy of the lists of the appointees obtained by Daily Trust, indicated that Sa’adatu Bashir Muhammed, is a special assistant to the first wife of the governor, while Mariya Muhammed Muktar and Aisha Garba are special assistants to the second and third wife respectively.

Hassan Usman Bulama and Surajo Musa Gwiwa are Special Assistants to the governor on Street light and population control.

The responsibility of all the aides to the governor was clearly stated with the exception of the three special assistants to the governor’s wives. Daily Trust reports that official responsibilities assigned to the offices of the wives of the governor are also yet to be made public.

Northern governors should be careful with the way they wasted public funds on things that do not meet the overall economic growth of the state.

Are they aware that the poverty rate is very high up north of which they can not afford to waste the scarce funds.

These are money that they should used to fund agriculture and other essential social services.

It is high time the constitution is amended to check all this wastage of public funds.

Is this job creation? What is being created here? What is the product of that employment? What value does it create? Are the services he offers taxable? Does it add to the GDP?

But when we exist in a society where public service expenditure is not related to productivity and earnings in anyway then poverty for all is loading. When government gives itself pay increases without any evidence of better earnings, better management or harder work bankruptcy is loading.

Let them continue to test the citizens, let them continue to press the buttons of revolution. One day, one will indeed click.
