Northern Nigeria trying to be smarter than they think!

Why not leave Ports Activities with the Atlantic Ocean based states?

Of what use is a dry port?

The money invested in this dry port should have been invested in Agriculture the main pre-occupation of the north.

NA THEM SABI !

This to me is a waste, until we have a good rail system connecting the north to bother East, West n South.. Nothing will work.

Build the aba n Onitsha seaport(East), ph n Calabar port(South) especially the FTZ in Calabar, shift pressure from apapa to another port in SW. Then u build inwards (thats how rail are done, build inwards) to the north via rail connect those regions stated above via Benue (for food produce).. I will gladly support if the FG wants to borrow to do it then run a PPP with FG holding at least 30% stake n recoup the loan and have a source of revenue at the same time.

Dry ports will spring up along the rail route at the States and other can send the goods thru road to the ports

Without rail stystem... the dry port is useless.

I'm not surprise. That's Nigeria qouta port for you.
Is it not the same useless country where virtually dry states like Sokoto and Bornu have international airports despite the non existence of economic activities and air passengers in the state? Whereas states that seriously need it are neglected? Wickedness, tribalism and nepotism does not develop country. Nigeria will never develop with these wicked quota system policies.

I for one never expected a dry state like Kaduna with low economic activities to thrive in the area of ports to the point of generating huge cargo traffic.

Let all the importers and exporters in the North patronize the dry abi desert port na.

If this port was in the east, I bet you Nigeria will generate billions of naira monthly from it.

But misplaced priority and ethnic bigotry nor make them see road.

NOw they are begging for shippers to use the dry port!

Lagos Port is congested, what happened to Calabar? Delta? Rivers? Onne?

Badagry? Lekki... We have chosen to ignore developing these and instead opened a dry port in the NORTH.

That dry port will remain DRY

Dead on arrival. It is like when Buhari went to open a steel rolling mill in Katsina some years ago even when there is no steel in the North.

Good. Every state should have a port, dry or wet

Should that be the priority of the country that has the highest number of children out of school and the extreme poverty capital of the world

Money provides infrastructure. Ports bring businesses closer to making regional money to provide amenities like public schools which in turn reduces societal problems

How much did the construction cost?
How much is spent annually to maintain it?
Your report is incomplete without these elements.

It is a welcomed development but such should also be present in the east, say Onitsha or Nnewi. Where commercial activities hold swear.

No offence bro. You did not read the info.

Nigeria is a failed country, the Easterners who needed ports both sea and dry are not getting it but those who don't have anything to do with it are having it. #IronyOfLife.

I did, talking about how the inland port has fared since inception, yes, it hasn't been as impressive as we would have expected but we shouldn't be truly expecting immediate positive results, gradually it will grow, I also want such to be replicated in other commercial hubs of the country, certainly it'll aid economic growth.
