Tribulation refers to the suffering that you will need to endure even as Christ Himself suffered.

The fact is, to become born again, you will need to lose everything you are, you have, you own... That is what Jesus said, and that is what will have to happen during your conversion, it seems, so there is a period there for all this to take place.
