A lot of this has to do with the present psychological make-up of Mikel I reckon.

It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy since by our thoughts we create our reality.

Siasia did not discover him, Chukwu and Eguavon used him in one U 17 tournament before siasia used him , Ganiu Salami must have discovered him.

Mikel is a better DM than he is an AM. So use him as a DM then.

btw, European clubs are stiffling the growth of African football. Majority of players from Africa are used mainly for their physical strength as Defenders or DM. African playmakers are becoming extinct.

It was Austine Eguavoen that actually discovered Mikel along with Promise Isaac. They played under him at the U-16 world cup.

Kolo Toure was bought as a left sided midfielder or winger, then he was moved in middle still didnt work, then when Martin Keown was moved to the bench he was moved into the center half role!!!

uncle, if i remember very well, promise isaac was the captain of that team abi? where is he now? is he still playing football or has he joined AY in the comedy business? who ruined him? maybe wenger or abakiliki united? siasia has said abormination with his mouth and deserve to face the court.

in every team, there are different departments so why is mikel's position the biggest problem of nigerian? does it mean that those who play defence are goats?
who among all the coaches that mikel has played under in chelsea can be compared to siasia? what does siasia think he is and what did he achieve in his playing days especially at club levels? which big team did he break into in europe and which big coach did he play under?
coaching junior teams in nigeria can be easier because the guys are playing with their last strenght to see themselves through. now siasia is faced with the real test of coaching let us see if he will turn to a pressman or a coach.

I am not sure Siasia is saying Mikel is a bad player or that he has become a bad player under cheasea, he is simply saying compared to the abilities the young man showed in 2005, he is under achieving. If Kaita played half as much as mikel plays, he wud have been hailed as a good player, but for Mikel who showed so much promise and skills to now play as an average player, that is wat Sia1 is talking about.

Players get converted from one position to the other, but that is beside the point, the point is that if some one like Zidane had become a very good defender, we would have lost his attacking skills and attacking influence in matches.

I'm not sure a coach can kill a player's "attacking instincts". Vermalaen, Gallas and Ivanovic are defenders but that hasn't affected their attacking "instincts". I'm even thinking Mikel should be taken back to defence as he's even too static for a DM - no offence.

I really don't know what Siasia is complaining about? The boy himself is not complaining and seems to be too happy to continue his sideways, reverse and short passes. I have a feeling Siasia would try to convert Mikel back to an attacking midfielder, in the process wasting so much of his time and energy. Amodu tried it without success.

He should rather concentrate that energy in developing AMs like Stanley Okoro, Lukman Haruna, Rabiu Ibrahim and so on.
