Tyche:As if I am wrong, all over the North your lazy amajirin brothers and sisters are begging to survive. The most shocking is the scene of their elders with no disability begging for alms. Now tell me who is going to be badly hurt by the proposed tax? Personally, when they approach me for help I give them a stern look. Should it get to the extreme, some of us in the South will move all our family members abroad so las las na una amajirin folks wey already dey vulnerable go die of hunger. Una go get sense by force shebi una no want restructure the country. Na una type dey sell una votes collect 1 cup of rice and 500 Naira wey go last just oneday without thinking of the future, na una dey marry plenty wife without any handwork. No worry sense go fall on una by the time Buhari tax una to death. 9 Likes |

For everyone crying 'the government is oppresive'...please let us be realistic. Nigeria isn't and never was a rich country. We rely on oil revenues...and right now, oil is at 59 dollars per barrel. We need oil to be at $140 per barrel before we can have a budget that is good enough for all our needs. So, either taxes go up, or we just keep on taking loans. Remember we are losing $80 per barrel, and we have had to take loans to keep afloat as oil has not been favouiring us since 2014 April. Besides, many countries have a tax on sugary drinks. It is sad that we have and have governments that have messed this country up, but unitl oil goes above $100 or more per barrel, taxation has to be the way to raise funds. Sorry guys...it is that...or we beg IMF for another loan. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Why can't they cut the wages and expenses of politicians. They earn way too much for the bad job they do. Nigeria most likely run the most expensive government in the world. The companies would simply pass on the cost to the consumers thereby creating more hardship. 6 Likes 1 Share |

I remember growing up. My father told me bed night stories. Sometimes the stories were about a village and a very wicked king that always taxed his subjects while living lavishly. ...today, all what Buhari reminds me are the stories my father told me about a bad ruler and his people. Especially, that he always told of a great famine that befell the land. Smh. 4 Likes |

It appears most of these ministers or advisers have nothing in their brains and can't think of better ways to generating revenue for the economy. From proposed increased in VAT for certain goods, we are told of introducing toll gates on bad roads, etc, etc........ It makes me wonder how such persons became graduates from any higher institution!!! Anyways you people should come on put VAT on borehole water since you're looking for revenue. 1 Like |

salford: Nigeria would have been a rich country if we change from exporting raw materials to Western makrets to being a manufacturing power. Yes, it sounds fanciful. But the problem with selling oil , cocoa, palmoil, groundnut ,e tc, is that 1.We don't control the prices of these things 2.Prices rise and fall 3.Ghana a few years ago earned 2 billion dollars from cocoa. One company bought part of that cocoa and earned profits of 17 billion dollars. The problem is, getting to being an industrial society involves a lot of hard work. And Nigerians don't want that...they want to chop money. That's why revolution, or Biafra or whatever won't change things. 2 Likes |

FarahAideed:except APC =PDP. No difference between the two. When one party wins the election, they begin to decamp to the other. People like Muoghalu, Sowore etc would be best, but Nigerians would rather well their votes for 1000 naira. 5 Likes |
