Judaeochristian" What Does It Mean? by sonmvayina(m): 12:49pm On Oct 18, 2019
A comment was made that the term Judaeo Christian makes no sense -- and another person asked "why not?"

From Wikipedia: "The term "Judæo Christian" first appears in a letter from Alexander McCaul which is dated October 17, 1821. In this case the term referred to Jewish converts to Christianity.

"The term was similarly used by Joseph Wolff in 1829, in reference to a type of church that would observe some Jewish traditions in order to convert Jews."

So the very term was coined by Christians trying to convert Jews to Christianity!

In reality Judaism has very little in common with Christianity.

Very, very little with the exception that the Christians tried to use out bible as the "proof" for their man-god Jesus being a son of G-d (pagan, not Jewish) and a messiah (he was not a messiah-- which means "anointed one" and for Jews is applied to properly anointed kings and priests -- Jesus was never so anointed)...

Wikipedia goes on to say "Theologian and author Arthur A. Cohen, in The Myth of the Judaeo-Christian Tradition, questioned the theological validity of the Judaeo-Christian concept and suggested that it was essentially an invention of American politics."

Many people seem to think that the only difference between Judaism and Christianity is that Christians believe Jesus was the messiah and Jews don't. While that is a difference, it is only one and not as major as one might think. What are the differences?

Jews don't hate Jesus. Jesus is immaterial to Judaism -- totally unimportant. In a way that would be very strange for most Christians to understand the messiah himself is fairly unimportant. There is only one G-d and to Him goes all the glory. The messiah is tasked with fulfilling some prophecies, but the true hero of the messianic age if G-d. The messiah will merely be His servant, as Moses was his servant so long ago.

There are far more differences between Judaism and Christianity than there are similarities.

Let's just list a few differences, Remember: what one Christian believes another will reject -- some Christian reading the list will say "I don't believe in "original sin" or "faith over works", but the list of what Christians believe is based on a majority of "normative" Christian teaching and beliefs:

Original sin. Christianity teaches that man is born a sinner due to the "original" sin committed by Adam and Chava (Eve). "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned." (Romans 5:12). Judaism and Torah disagree -- we are not born sinners, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? If, though, you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you shall master over it." (B'reshit / Genesis 4:7) See also 8:21; D'varim / Deuteronomy 30:14.

Faith is more important than actions / works / deeds - (Ephesians 1:13). If a person does not believe in Jesus then one is condemned. "one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness," (Romans 4:5). Faith, even blind faith, in Jesus is considered more important than doing good deeds and living a good life. (Romans 1, 10 and 13). Judaism believes the opposite of this Christian teaching. Acts are important. There is absolutely nothing in the T'nach that requires “faith.” The word isn’t even in the T'nach (when translations say, for example, that Abraham had "faith" in G-d it means that He trusted G-d to keep His word -- not that Abraham "believed that G-d existed"wink. When we Jews agreed to the covenant with G-d we did not say "we will believe in You." We did say "All that the L-rd spoke we will do and we will hear." Sh'mot / Exodus 24:7). We will do = deeds, works, actions.

Salvation. Christianity teaches that sin has separated man from G-d, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). The Christian bible goes so far as to say that only G-d can remove sin and deliver man from sin’s penalty (hell) (2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5). In the Jewish bible the term "salvation" only refers to being rescued from physical danger. Salvation has nothing to do with our immortal souls. We are not separated from G-d -- indeed He is close to all who call upon Him. In D'varim / Deuteronomy 33:29 Moses said we are “a nation that has been saved by HaShem”) and Yeshayahu / Isaiah 45:17 says the Jewish nation “has been saved by HaShem”, adding that “this is an eternal salvation”). Note that, in both verses, the words used were “has been saved” or "continually being saved" -- but again this is speaking of our physical existence -- not our immortal souls which are perfect and do not need to be saved.

G-d is a trinity, and He took the form of a man (Jesus), and exists also as the Father and the Holy Spirit ( Matthew 28:19). G-d firmly rejects a triune god. G-d is One, and He is not a man. He is unchanging, infinite -- the creator not part of the creation. "You have been shown these things so you should know that HaShem is the the One and Only G-D and there is no-one else apart from Him" (D'varim / Deuteronomy 4:35).

Jesus died to atone for the sins of the world. No one can die for the sins of another, and human sacrifice is strictly forbidden.; "Fathers shall not be put to death because of sons, nor shall sons be put to death because of fathers; each man shall be put to death for his own transgression." D'varim / Deuteronomy 24:16.

The Devil. Christianity teaches that there is an evil "god," a former (fallen) angel who is "god of this world." (2 Corinthians 4:4). Judaism believes in only One G-d who created good and evil (Yeshayahu / Isaiah 45:7). There are no other gods but Him Yeshayahu / Isaiah 45:5). There is no concept of the devil in the bible or in Judaism.

Jesus died, descended into hell and resurrected and ascended into heaven. “If (Jesus) has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.” (I Corinthians 15:17). Just think about that statement momentarily -- Corinthians is stating if Jesus did not die, resurrect and ascend into heaven then Christianity is false and "you are still in your sins." Yet many pagan religions of 2000 years ago had gods who died and were reborn. This claim was not unique to Christianity. There is no proof that Jesus died and resurrected, just as there is no proof that resurrection happened to those pagan gods (e.g. Mithra, Dionysus and others). The Torah itself gives us tales of people revived from death (resurrected). Being resurrected from the dead is not required of the messiah and is proof of nothing. . . The prophets Elijah and Elisha both resurrected people from death -- and yet Jews do not worship those people who were revived.

Thus, even if the tale of Jesus' resurrection were true (and it seems highly unlikely since no one noticed it outside of the anonymous authors of the Christian bible) Jews would still not worship Jesus or pray to or through him. From just a believability perspective the tales of the Christian bible are incompatible. Study Rabbi Tovia Singer's CRUCIFIXION / RESURRECTION CHART. Whether Jesus performed miracles, died and was resurrected is totally immaterial to Judaism. None of those things (which are central to Christianity) matter in the least to Judaism.

No, even resurrection does not make a god -- neither do miracles -- there is only one G-d.

This tpas the surface of differences -- and hopefully will help people to understand that the concept of Judeao Christianity is an oxymoron -- and insulting to both groups.

do they read or they just go about copying and pasting the work of others without bothering to give credit to the appropriate quarters .

i expected this thread when Mazi Nnamdi Kanu used the word in one of his posts about the ongoing terror in our land .

Christianity seems like Greek Philosophy spin on Judaism, except the beauty of Greek Philosophy is substituted for misunderstandings of Judaism.

I'm just thankful this generation is not as gullible as those that preceeded it. Imagine having this conversation with mum and dad and you'd get what I mean. Then wonder what your children would come up with and rejoice.

Jewish Judaism actually means Jesus Christ. Check the figures. It's Isaacism. So Judaeo Christians are The Trusted Faithfuls.

Judaeo Chritians are Born Agains. They were Watchers who kept extra oil in their Lamps to await the arrival of The Bridegroom. They are the Tribe of Isaac.

All Abrahamic religious text are false, fake and counterintuitive.

There isnt one character or storyline in all of Abrahamic religious text that can claim to being original; if they wasnt stolen, they was copied, plagiarised, sexed-up or simply outrightly fabricated.

The compilation of the Christian bible, predates the compilation of the Torah, as in all reality Christianity predates Judaism.

Those that think Judaism started from the days of the biblical timelines are wrong, well since its already established that the Christian bible is a fraud, then that would invalidate such claims anyways.

The truth is that Romans invented Christianity and the early Crusaders invented Judaism out of the rhetoric presented by the authors of the Christian bible.

Thats correct, the people that lived in Palestine at the time were not Jews in any sense of that word.

Judaism is a relatively new religion that was invented by the 'Crusaders.

The Israelite storyline is false.

The claim that the authors of Abrahamic religious text made that suggest a people known as Israelites being the a Jew is a mere fabrication.

Judaism was invented around 14 - 15th century, that is to say, according to history there were no known Jews anywhere in the world before the 13th century.

The State of Israel is real.

The Israelites are ficticious.

More than 50% of Israeli citizens are neither Arab nor Jew.
