Kano Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed the Ministry of Justice to amend the panel code to death penalty for kidnappers in the state. Ganduje dropped the hint on Thursday during the inauguration of a 16- man commission of enquiry headed on Kano 9 children kidnapped and sold in Onitsha, Anambra state . The fools at the National Assembly should actually work towards making death penalty for kidnappers a national law. Firing squad should be reintroduced in this country until people learn to make money in a legitimate way. 1 Like 1 Share |

This is a bad idea. When kidnappers face death penalty, more kidnap victims will end up dead. It will still be safer for the kidnappers to collect ransom and then kill the victim to avoid being identified. |

kayroc:i don't think so. Anybody that kidnap did it solely to make money.. killing the victim wont warrant any payment, so they'll lose on both side. This law is a very good idea. |

theenchanter: Oga this type of law has been tried abroad. It would be better to make it 20 years than death sentence. It is very possible to kill the victim after collecting ransom. These things have happened several times before. If death sentence is imposed, they will simply turn to robbery or kill victims. A better plan would be to demolish the family houses of the kidnappers. That way, the family will cast them and any building they construct will be demolished. With this approach, the money they might make will end up getting wasted. |

So Boko haram can attack a school, Kill teachers,soldiers, police, kidnap young promising students, tie them up, imprison them and get rehabilitation but these people who somewhat cruelly adopted some future almajir should get death penalty. Ganduje, you should be facing death penalty for staling money from your people while your constituents are suffering in poverty |

This is the kind of law I expected south east governors should pass. Considering that their region is notorious in kidnapping. but because of cover up of criminals in that region that law will never see the light. |

Very good but coming from a bribe collector  Evil men in power, why not okay the execution of politicians that steals from the people As if all of you are not into crime!!! Kettle calling pot black!!! What will be the penalty for bribe collectors Because they have not only kidnapped the wealth of the people, they have destroyed thousands of lives which is worse!!!In a sane clime this Ganduje would have resigned and jailed at least to atone for his crime!!! |
