Igbo man has won an election in SW before.... Azikwe
Yoruba man has never won an election in SE
Okay let's believe it happened before independence, how did it turn out for Zik. Cross carpeting right?
But the truth stares you in the face. Have the Yoruba's ever given even 2% votes to an Igbo candidate since 1960?

The topic was a fallout to those who say we don't build bridges.
This thread is pointing to the SW sophisticated ones who have never since 1960 voted an Igbo candidate.
The SE has voted every tribe to power, but when it comes to their turn you hear mischief maker giving tribalistic reasons why they shouldn't be President. The SWesterners can never be liberal as the Igbo's in Nigerian politics, yet they call us names.

since u assume not to know d reason/topic for the thread, here is it once again: Re: Igbo's Voted Abiola In 1993: Proof and Graphical Representation
Its not about whether "Yoruba's voted for igbis" or what is not.
bottom line: Just accept that the op's lies and attempt to misonform d gullible public has been busted. period.

if u want discussions on ur "question", then open a thread for it.

What happened?
Which cross carpeting?
Should I pull up the results?
Zik won election but NCNC could not get the needed number of seats to rule the region.
Awo talked with the minorities and they allied with him. Is it that you people cannot stop lying?
Or you did not know Ibadan People's Party and other minority parties also won in the Western election?

Peter Obi was the Vice Presidential candidate of PDP and he got more than 40% of vote cast in 2019 election in Yorubaland

All we can see is still the usual hatred Igbo have always shown.....from Azikiwe...
to Yoruba by always voting against them.
Ask them..who is Tofa that 3 out of 4 states of SE had to vote him over Abiola.Shame to self centred homosapiens!

But your people have told us time without number that Atiku was the reason they voted PDP and not because of Peter Obi.
Some even went as far as blaming the picking of an Igbo VP as the reason why PDP lost the elections. A Yoruba VP for Atiku was their choice but it didn't sail through.
We were all witness to this.

You can imagine SE giving 47% of our votes to A Yoruba candidate , a Muslim-Muslim ticket, in an election an Igbo son was a VP to a major contender in Tofa.

Most liberal? Nope. That's most stupid and disunited, according to Nigerians.

But if we do the opposite, we became tagged tribalists, hateful, wicked, you mention it. grin

In 2011, Jonathan won five of the six south west states and got over 60% of the total vote cast in the region in an election a Yoruba son was a VP to a major contender.

In 2015, Jonathan won Ekiti State and got over 42% of the total vote cast in south west in an election a Yoruba son was a VP to a major contender in Buhari.

Most liberal? Nope. That’s the most selfish, greedy, cunning and ultimate betrayal of southern unity.

When has a Yoruba ever voted for an Igbo candidate in the history of Nigeria? they cross carpeted when Zik's NCNC won fair and square in the Western region under some ridiculous fear of Igbo domination, it's on historical record that Yorubas abi Yaribas introduced tribalism (ethnic politics in Nigeria), they are the progenitors of tribalism and we are only learning from them. The real purveyor of hate speech Akintola himself set the ball rolling way back in 60's...most of the things they accuse Ndigbo of doing today, they started it... just ignore the inconsequential loafers.

Whichever way it goes am sure only a cursed Igbo will collect presidential ticket from boko haram party.

Eastlink:
True. Igbo's owe Nigeria nothing.
As someone said, 2023 will either unite Nigeria or divide this country.
Yoruba still won't vote Igbo if it does not please them.
Now, any Igbo can go to hell n rot there if he or she is not ok with that.

Eastlink:
The question is has your people ever voted an Igbo candidate?
Before you come out to castigate the Igbo's first look at yourselves and you'll see the Igbo's are far liberal than you lots.
Despite an Igbo VP in NRC they still voted Abiola. When will the Yoruba's reciprocate the Igbo's for their gestures in 1993 for Abiola and in 1999/2003 for Obasanjo?

Once PDP gift an Igbo it presidential ticket you can be rest assured Yoruba will reciprocate the 47% vote just like we did for Atiku & Jonathan but an Igbo will not be winning the majority vote here over anyone be it any politician from SS Ebele Jonathan, NE. Atiku. Igbo can seek there winning votes from hell for all I care but not Yorubaland.
pazienza:
Abiola got a combined 47% of total votes in Four SE states of Abia,Enugu, Anambra, and Imo.

Abiola got:

Imo: 44.86%
Anambra : 57.11%
Enugu :44.86%
Abia:41.04

Average = 47%
Jugding from this disposition it is now confirmed we have a fool on the loose.

Zik and his party didn’t win the western region house of assembly election. AG won majority of seats fair and square. On the day of the inauguration of the assembly, other candidates that contested and won as independent candidates and others that won on the platform of Ibadan people’s party crossed over to the AG.

So please, stop propagating falsehood. NCNC/ZIK did not win majority of seats and couldn’t have form the government.

Jonathan is not Igbo now, is he? By the way, he got over 95% of the votes casted in SE at that same 2011, and we all know of the election apathy that greeted the presidential election in SW in 2011. Turnout was poor. And was Buhari really a major contender in 2011? We can as well claim he a major contender in 2007 when he had Ogbonnaya Onu?
I don't think so.

In 2015, The rebranding of Buhari was done by Yoruba controlled media, just like GEJ demonization was done by same .
But fair play, many Yorubas voted for GEJ. But GEJ isn't Igbo now, is he?

That's a good question? The challenge is still up. Yoruba's have never voted an Igbo Presidential candidate since 1960.
The ball is in their court to prove us wrong. If they can show me when they gifted us just 1% of their votes, from 1960 till the time of Ojukwu in 2003 then I'll apologize to them.
The gauntlet is still thrown open.

Yes, a 47% vote to Abiola SDP is a massive vote. NRC with an Igbo VP got 53% votes. A meagre 6% difference.
Show me where the Yoruba's have ever gifted an Igbo Presidential candidate from 1960 Zik to 2003 Ojukwu 1% of their votes.
1% is a challenge. Yet, you guys come online to paint the Igbo black when tribalism reeks in you fabrics.

You're right. We practice true democracy then. Even up north wasn't different, Tofa lost his home state of Kano to Abiola.
Abiola won in Anambra, Edo, Delta, Akwa-Ibom, Cross Rivers and garnered large votes in northern and other SE/SS States.

Only the SW voted on tribal lenses. Take a look at Ondo state as well as other SW states in the 1993 voting and you'll understand the tribal identity of our Yoruba brothers. This isn't a bashing but the reality on ground.
SW have been playing politics of tribe right from Adam but the funny thing is that they turn around and look for people to accuse of the sin they are guilty of.
