I identify more as agnostic than Christian. I go to church once in a while to mingle and make friends. I have dated a Nigerian guy that knew that I was not much of a churchgoer. After a while, he started questioning why I don't go to church. Every Sunday, after I tell him I did not go to church, he will remind me that he wants his wife to be a prayer warrior. But this person NEVER WENT TO CHURCH EITHER. I have not even finished praying for myself. I wish him good luck wherever he is. This particular Nigerian had no interest in going to church, yet he expected the complete opposite from his spouse. 26 Likes 5 Shares |

Have had two failed relationships because I'm an atheist. They were afraid of me. They think since I am not guided by a moral compass I can do anything without feeling remorse. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Well well well...while I am not fanatic about religion, I expect my partner to strongly respect God. He doesn't have to go to church, mosque or the shrine religiously, he doesn't have to pay tithe or hold MOG in high esteem, just acknowledging that there is a supreme Being who loves us and require that we love Him and humanity is enough. We need to have something guiding us lest we become void of any moral feelings. Hallelujah 8 Likes 1 Share |

sisisioge:In other words you need to marry a dummy who believes in some sky daddy even when there's no evidence whatsoever to prove it than marry a realist who despite not believing in a god, has his conscience as his guiding light? I think the mistake some of you make is equating believing in a god with having a good moral compass. Morality is based more on conscience than on believing in a god and everybody is born with a conscience. Some atheists are even more conscientious than believers 10 Likes 3 Shares |

That is a serious and crazy double standard. In my current predicament, the lady suspects that I'm not religious but still loves me. We will have to talk about this when we move to the next stage. elektra: 1 Like 1 Share |

Jman06: Hmmm...its a way of life for me. Our conscience is not to be entirely trusted since they are strongly influenced by our definitions of good and bad. Meaning, if I don't see anything wrong in hiring a child as a maid, locking up same child in a cage and refusing to feed her same way I feed my children because I pay her salary just the way my boss at work pays me salary without adding meals. Then my conscience will be cleared of any wrong doing. That's why we must have a general code we all live by...love God, love humanity. It's so simple. If you love God, you would respect His creations, authority and the mystic around Him. If you love Him, you would be fair in your dealings with humans around you. You dont have to be a church goer or revere a MOG to show this. I live by this code as its so cheap and easy. Hallelujah 5 Likes |

Jman06: You have come into a thread where people are discussing rationally, and you've started throwing around insults such as dummy towards millions of people who have a different belief system. Not one BASIC respect for people who believe differently from you has been shown. Yet, what impact have you or your conscience made towards anyone? You leave a lot to be desired, if you were the poster boy for atheism. 18 Likes 1 Share |

sisisioge:Our consciences are better trusted than believing in or loving some nonexisting entity called ''god"! People just deceive themselves! The same "god" that your so called men of god hide under his name to defraud gullible followers and rape innocent girls The same god in whose name nations have been at war? The same person for whom ISIS and Boko haram have been fighting and killing people everywhere See, so if you are to choose between someone who loves humanity naturally and is conscientious and another whose moral is predicted on the fear of being burnt in hellfire but would ordinarily be a crook and immoral person, you'll choose the later? |

hopefulLandlord: You didn't quite read my submission. Indeed, there are good and bad people on both divide, hence silly to take on the challenge. However, its a lot easier to deal with the bad on both divide if we all have a common guiding principles... Fairness to all, love your neighbor as thy self, loving them is loving God. By the way, I have dated an atheist before...he was actually a good guy, he treated all and sundry fairly and did not undermine my reverence of God. |
Re: Atheist Marriage In Nigeria by sisisioge: 7:48am On Nov 05, 2019 |
Jman06: Again, there are the good and the bad in both divide. I just strongly believe that if we have no fear of a higher sanction, we tend to do worse. Without naming names, that rappist MOG was once part of the underworld... Dang, can you imagine the havoc caused by the SOB before he supposedly found God? Can you imagine just how much more evil he would have perpetrated if not guided(albeit not wholely) by the fear of God? Again, the world is laden by the good, the bad and the ugly...we all just need a proper propeller towards being good for the over all good of humanity. Biko no mention me again, e don tire me 2 Likes |

sisisioge: I don't think it's a lot easier. I'd even argue it's a lot more difficult when religious people rely on some invisible entity to tell them what's right or not. the proof is right here for us to see in the likes of religious terrorism and crimes committed by people who say "god told me to do it" |

Sorry to deviate a bit but I would love to know what type of wedding do atheist clamour for. Since many rarely attend church or mosque, what kind of wedding do they do? Would the intending groom's parent or bride's parent support just traditional and court wedding? 1 Like |

. If ur car breaks down on 3rd mainland cos ur car battery ran down in traffic,, 1.will u start praying and kabashing for an unforseen GOD to come and start d car? Or 2.will u call a car electrician to rent u a battery or you go buy a new battery and start ur car? |

drmikeadams: I will definitely choose option 1, as I pray & kabash, the battery will auto charge from nothing & the Car would start by itself Miraculously. Gbe Body E! |
