Military takeover brought us to where we are since January 1966.
How many of the countries that Nigerians are running away to is ruled by a dictator, whether honest and patriotic or not?
There is no difference between politicians and dictators in being selfish and greedy. It is the control and agitation of the people that moderates the excesses. The input of the people is more respected in a democracy than a dictatorship, due to more effective institutions.
Have you compared India and Pakistan, one without military rulers and the other with several coups?
Why do you feel helpless to convince the brainless zonebees to understand what is at stake and act appropriately?
Will you risk your life, fortunes and render your family fatherless to do a coup and then turn around to be honest and patriotic? Is that not been foolishi?

I wish you had an inkling of the true state of your nation right now.... What institutions are you talking about? Established by who?.... I understand some people's need to be optimistic, and politically correct, but this nation is nearly past redemption especially by democratic means...

Nigeria currently has one of the most dysfunctional democracies in the universe... Every election in the last 16 years has been nothing short of shambolic, bringing forth corrupt dullards into power... What exactly can the intelligent and righteous few do in a democracy where who leads is determined by a dumb, greedy and moronic majority??! Think about it... This is not the time to be lamely politically correct... Reality stares us in the face daily!!!

Educate, teach and enlighten until those who understand become the majority.

Well, I can't disagree out-rightly with this... But, I fear the desired results will be hard to come by, and might take something akin to a century.

Will Nigeria survive that intermission??!

We may break along the way, or we may not.
That really should not matter.
We need to start and keep working on what needs to be done, encouraged by each small sign of progress along the way.
Not starting and not steadily working on the needful is the worst option.

WE NEED THESE LAWS:

There's no bill to hang looters

There's no bill to hang corrupt senators padding the budget

There's no bill to hang bandits who killed Nigerians for money

There's no bill to hang Boko Haram terrorists massacring our people

There's no bill to hang party thieves called party leaders who sell offices to highest bidders

There's no bill to hang state governors who loot their state dry and end up in the Senate to retire

There's no bill to end poverty, inequality, insecurity or create jobs

...but they have a bill to sentence anyone they hate to death by hanging for hate speech on Facebook, Twitter

There's no death penalty for election riggers;

A serious govt and national assembly would have concerned themselves with above legislations.

.......And the slaves shouts "Hurray"
