Shocking Side Effects Of Earphones To Our Ears And Brain And Measures To Cushion The Effect

Headphones and earbuds have become staples of everyday life. While those little listening devices keep us connected and entertained wherever we go, they can also put us at risk for permanent hearing loss. Just about anything you put in your ear will increase the levels of bacteria simply by the introduction of foreign object to your ear. Think of your finger, cotton bud, and anything else you put in your ear. With the right microorganisms, humid and hot environments like the ear, nose and mouth have all the right conditions for a germ fest.
It has been said that using headphones increase the bacteria levels in our ear by over 700 times when used for more than an hour. This shocking statistics came from a study way back in 1992 when experts measured bacteria on 20 headsets. Whether this alarming statistics is true or false is virtually impossible to determine. Too many variables are missing like where are the headphones stored when not used, how much bacteria is in the average person, and how many other people have used the earphones. But what is certain is that if you put an earphone in your ear, you cover your ears from the natural flow of air, which increases the production of bacteria.

Using the headphones for a long period causes:
1.Tinnitus: (Noise in the ear) this is due to exposure to extremely loud noise. it is a ringing, buzzing, and roaring noise in the ear or head. damage to the hair cells in cochlea (part of the inner ear) is mostly responsible for this condition. The hair cells transform sound waves into nerve signals which relayed it to the brain, when the brain does not receive nerve signal properly it produces abnormal nerve signals to compensate for the missing input by the cochlear hair cells.
2.Severe Ear Infection: it is usually unavoidable that people share earphones. Daily usage of headphones can increase the development of injurious bacteria. sharing or using same earphones can cause the transmission of somebody else's microorganisms to your ears.
3.Loss Of Hearing: this is one of the major effect of excessive use of microphones. When you use them, the audio goes directly into your ears and reaches your eardrum, people who continuously use them are at high risk of loss of hearing and also hearing complications. if you increase your volume to 100% for at least 15 minutes every day you can undergo serious hearing problems.
4.It Affects Our Brain: headphones usually generate electromagnetic waves known to be risky for the human brain in the long term. Also, since the inner ear has a connection with the brain any damage or infection in the ear can also affect the brain.
5.Ear Pain: headphone addicts usually visit the doctor with illness of unbearable ear pain. You normally hear some peculiar and diverse sounds buzzing in your ears, you also feel deadliness in your ears sometimes. Excessive use of earphone can cause numbness and severe pain in your ears.
6.It Can Result To Serious Accidents: it may result to serious consequences like accidents, people who use earphones while walking or jogging are so engrossed in their private world that they may not be able to hear the honking of vehicles or an approaching train and often becomes victims of accidents.
Effects Of Headphones On The Brain.
Loud music damage the nerve cells and has the same effect on nerves as multiple sclerosis( a progressive autoimmune disorder affecting nervous system) noise level above 100% damage the protective insulating myelin sheath of nerve cells which carry signals from the ear to the brain. Loss of the protective coating, called myelin disrupts electrical nerve signals causing partial or complete deafness.
Tips That Can Help You Keep Away From Health Problems
1.Purchase high quality headphones as they will block more of the environmental noise, thus allowing the user to reduce the volume and still hear the music comfortably.
2.Avoid using them while travelling, if you cant do without them while travelling, reduce the volume, avoid playing loud music more than 40%.
3.Avoid using stylish, small earphones as they point directly in to your ear canal, go for bigger ones.
4.Do not shear your headphones because bacteria can be easily be pass from one person's ear to another true headphones.
5.If they have sponge or rubber covers, do change them ones in a month because they usually accumulate bacteria.
