Dating is a process of getting to know someone and figuring out if you both want the same things out of a relationship.

When you get to a certain age in life, dating for fun should never be on your lists. We should learn to date with a goal in mind.


SELF AWARENESS

Self discovery is the road to finding true love. You will learn a lot about yourself; your wants, needs, vulnerabilities, strength, love language etc.

It’s important to be clear and honest with yourself about your relationship intentions; are you looking for a relationship? Or do you love your single life and just want to keep things casual?

Dating for sex, money, status or companionship is still dating with a purpose. I don't think there's anything wrong with doing that, as long as you're honest with the people you date.


LEAVE THE PAST IN THE PAST

Your past experience are lessons, an example of what not to accept. You don’t know the good until you’ve experienced the mediocre.


CREATE A DEAL BREAKER LIST

Learn to establish boundaries early on. Respect those boundaries. Having a list of deal breakers keep you on target, no matter what. Examples include history of violence, cheating or acholocism. Do they want kids or marriage. It might be based on a bad situation from a previous relationship that you never want to repeat. This list is something that 99.9% of the time is not compromised. The .1% is for those rare situations where everything else is so amazing and this person has done some work to overcome this deal breaker, or to make it less of an issue.
