Please, bear with me.

Something is trying to speak through me.

It comes deep from my solar plexus.

Please, bear with me.

If it sounds like I’m not be so straightforward.

I’m just finding my rhythm.

Dance is a state of mind.

Being in harmony with yourself and the world around you.

Dance is when your core vibrates to a celestial rhythm.

Can I get an amen?

The days may not always be breezy.

On some days we will have to dance through death.

To face our ancestors on the other side of the sun.

We fall and we rise.

We emerge stronger.

We danced, we fought, we prayed, and we persevere through the valley of the shadow of death.

We saw what everlasting life was made of.

We trembled at the power that was present before us.

And we persevered.

We endured.

We built.

We thrived.

We lost hope sometimes.

We lost faith sometimes.

We felt the pain of dreams buried in the dirt, underground, maybe never to be seen again.

We felt the pain of resurrection.

We fought through tears and pain and heartache.

We cried and spilled the contents of our hearts unto the Lord.

We danced through the pain.

We felt a fire in our belly.

We’re never gonna put it out.

Never again.

We rose from the depths.

We carried love in our hearts.

We prayed for the strength to overcome hatred and to subdue fear.

And we danced.

We danced for love.

Pardon me.

Something wants to speak through me.

I stand before you as a conduit.

A channel.

I move the rhythm he lays out for me.

I move for and with the one that guides me through the valley of the shadow of death.

I move according to the whims of the one that orders my steps.

I move to the notes of the one that writes my story.

I pray for the strength to endure and the faith to persevere.

How do you see him?

What do you perceive him to be?

A saint?

A sinner?

A blasphemer?

A liar?

A god?

God?

A prophet?

A philosopher?

A scoundrel?

The devil?

A troll?

Do you see him in yourself?

Do you see him in the photon?

Do you see him in the matter that binds us all together?

Do you feel him as the thread that joins all of our stories?

Do you feel him as the warmth in your chest when you have found home?

Person me.

I needed to get that off my chest.

Thank you for your time.

Also popular among Sufi’s, Bori in Northern Nigeria, and several tribes and groups around the world.

Even Praise and Worship in Christian churches has elements of dance.

It can be an intensely spiritual exercise.
