Former Nigeria international, Odion Ighalo, has come under criticism on social media for attributing career success to favour other than labour.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the 30-year-old appeared to push hard work in the background, saying: “Favour is better than labour .”

After facing backlash, Ighalo, who retired from the national team after his heroics at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, took back his statement and turned it around, saying “Labour is better than favour are we ok now?”

Read what Nigerians on Twitter are saying about him.

To make it to the top flight of any team, you need a lot of hardwork, determination and LUCK. Just look at the current mediocre players in man utd and Arsenal, are the best players in the world? Heck no! Yet they're playing for the biggest teams in the world. There are lots of players playing in lower divisions that have bigger skills than most of them but sadly will never be discovered. Is dangote the hardest worker out there? There are people that will work ten times more than he ever has yet will live average lives till the day they die. So Ighalo has a point.
