Theresa Ibori, the former First Lady of Delta State, is going to prison for five years.

The London jury in her Southwark Crown Court trial returned their verdict today. James Ibori's United Kingdom lawyer, Mr. Bhadresh Gohil, who was on trial with Theresa, has been remanded in police custody, awaiting sentencing.

In a previous trial, the court had also sent to prison Ibori's sister, Christine Ibori-Ibie; and his mistress, Udoamaka Okoronkwo-Onuigbo.

The main culprit, James Ibori, awaits extradition to the UK to face three set of trials relating to money laundering and theft of delta state resources.

5 years?? That means she'll only serve 2.5 years after which she'll be realised on parole.
Not good enough judge. Not good enough.
Did they also lose all the properties acquired from the loot??

Whilst the sentence might seem small, Nkoyo will now been know as an ex-convict, and will be required to delcare that for the rest of her life. not a nice tag to be carrying about.

We must not complain because our governemt has not done anything to fight corruption and jail offended, instead he is inviting them to dine with him. Was uduaghan not name in the same case, what has the governemtn done since to question him, rather the president is backing him for re-election

Atleast, she didn't go scott free which might have been the case if she was tried in nigeria or just given a funny sentence that she'll probably spend in the four corners of her bedroom living large like the case of cecilia ibru. The nigerian judicial system encourages a high level of fraud going by the ridiculous sentence they melt out to known looters or simply just frustrating the prosecution until the case dies a natural death

In Naija they would have given her 6months which she would see off in one of the best hospitals.

^^^Just like cecilia ibru or simply set her free after looting the state dry with her husband. I'm awaiting the extradition of Ibori to UK to go and carry his cross too. I'm sure non of nigerian treasury looters will go scott free, nemesis will surely catch up on them all when they least expect
