You will agree with me that in Nigeria, the legal profession is not the most lucrative profession. This is apparently because of the situation of the country and the increasing number of students enrolling into the profession everyday. Just last year, about 5,000 students were offered admission to study law in Nigeria. Of course, this is a good news at the face of it but on the other hand, it is indirectly reducing the value and prestige of the profession.

Today, law firms pay very low amount of money to young lawyers because there are thousands of lawyers who are looking for job. It has gotten to the extent that some pay firms pay as low as N20,000 to lawyers. Yes! this will take you aback but it is just the truth. I know many lawyers who are paid 20k every month.

That notwithstanding, there are still some law firms that pay a reasonable amount of money to their lawyers. These law firms are still some of the firms i mentioned in my article on the best law firms in Nigeria 2020. They are very popular, competitive and they demand a lot from their lawyers. Nonetheless, they are the highest paying law firms in Nigeria as at the time this article was written.

If you are young lawyer reading this, it is pertinent to note that almost all the law firms here have strict requirements for employing new associates. So, before going to apply for job in any of the firms mentioned in this article, make sure you do thorough search about those requirements. Alternatively, you can comment on the comment section below for more information.

Kai the legal profession is saturated just like many medical professions are getting saturated.

The only saving grace is that many medical professionals like physicians, nurses, scientists, pharmacists, radiographers etc are leaving in droves, allowing some space and hope for fresh graduates waiting to invade the health sector.

If you are a medical professional start thinking of relocating to the UK, EU citizens in the health sector are leaving the UK due to Brexit and the NHS is desperate to fill the lacuna with immigrants from commonwealth nations.
