PerfectMatchNG: I have absolutely no mercy for Niger Deltans and their Wike, GEJ, millitants or whatever. The region is not viable. Brainless guys without foresight. Oil is dying. Nigeria will meets most of its other budgetary needs from agriculture and deep offshore oil. Most IOCs have divested so its millitants stealing Nigerian oil companies' oil. When a guy like GEJ was your President for 6 years that's what you get and hey no sympathy. 1 Like |

Daviddson:Delaying budget passage till last quarter of the following year could not have been defined as super check. Saraki himself, definitely will be regretting his actions where ever he might be. Saraki didn't hurt PMB in any way, Saraki only hurts the common man in the street with his actions 3 Likes 1 Share |

Previously when Executive Budgets were augmented it was blamed on opposition Representatives. Now that all the President's men are in charge of the House why is it 'business as usual'. What has changed however is that we will no longer have the 'fights' that preceed revelations of the happenings in government. Not that underhand deals will vanish, just that they will become legal. Afterall in terms of the law that pursues graft if any monies is legally appropriated there is no corruption, even though in the court of public opinion represented by a true Legislature such appropriations are tantamount to criminality. For example why is it that no voice has been raised about the runaway subsidies legally appropriated despite the fact that we know oil prices are relatively low and consumption should be at an all time low judging by poor economic indices, depressed capital expenditure and structural reforms along the hitherto porous borders. I donot expect anyone to raise any voice to what was labelled so vociferously as budget padding during the very last and viable Legislature we had. Nothing has changed for the better. Same ol, same ol. Just legal now. The task before future presidents is simple. Get your Legislsture to cover your front and get your judiciary to cover your back and you can do very much whatsoever you like. So much for a supposedly growing democracy. 5 Likes 1 Share |

contigiency: Now that you have a 'co-operating Legislature', can you show in clear, detailed terms the benefits accrued to Nigeria in the past six months. What can we say is the positive achievement that will not have been possible previously. Because I cannot remember what this President wanted to do for himself under the past dispensation that he didn't do. But instead things like electoral reforms which should be to the benefit of all Nigerians is still not done half a year after the elections. So it doesn't take the deduction of a rocket scientist to see that a rubber stamp legislature is just to legalise unpopular government programs and block popular ones while permitting personal gains for all those in government. Just take a look at the popular bills in public discourse today. Nothing for the people. All to protect and extend the powers of government. Whether you like it or not, all advancing democracies have an active, vociferous parliament. You can imagine if the United Stayes didn't have Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats to check Trump. You can imagine if the United Kingdom didn't have the Labour and Liberal parties to check the Conservatives. Nigeria will simply not develop under this arrangement because the ideas generated through debate, the understanding generated through discourse will never be possible. We are in afull blown autocracy and you know it. 2 Likes |

Afamed:You lack basic knowledge about budget circle, budget execution doesn't end in December but June of every year,so SARAKI has not done anything wrong.January December is good but nothing wrong with June June as well.Going back to January December circle means last year budget will be half executed in term of period. So seek knowledge and stop pull him down syndrome of yours. |

Jimi24: Of course to you it is 'maybe' because you know nothing of what government does courtesy of an autocratic system. You can only speculate. In better climes the people know exactly what every penny of government is meant to do. That is where it is coming from and where it is going. But the average Nigerian can only speculate and 'trust'. We are the only nation on earth that 'trusts' its politicians and to have that trust despite serial betrayals is tantamount to nothing but criminal negligence. The results are clear. Poverty capital of the world for the sixth or seventh straight year. 2 Likes |
