Opay application is from the Operamini Digital Service. Intending to create convenience for Nigerians wherever they are, the service has provided jobs for over ten thousand Nigerians via O Ride, O Street, Merchants, Opay POS, ‘O’ Food, ‘O’ Invest and many others.

In a chat with Oladipupo Mojeed, Mr. Kolawole John, the manager of the Akure branch of the service shed more light on the feats the service has achieved in Ondo state within five months.

Opay is a from Operamini, how did this idea of Opay come about?

I think in 2017, they decided to come to Africa. The first country they decided to visit with the business idea was Kenya. Then from Kenya, the next market was Nigeria.

Now the intention of the company was to make every market cashless Policy. Now we have Opay running in the Americas and Europe. These are successful cashless economies. So, the intention of the company when it came to Nigeria was to run a cashless policy, and they got a license from the Federal Government, CBN gave them licenses. That is why we have the mobile money platform, Opay itself. And since then, the business has been growing.
