Op, with determination and focus, you can make a very comfortable first class. But note you must be hitting above 4.5 GPA for the remaining 7 semesters. Yes, 7 semesters since it is a university of technology where one session will be for IT. Also make sure you score A in your IT which is 5 points.

But graduating with 2.1 isn't that bad anyway, so don't kill yourself. After all, I know a mechanical engineering graduate with specialisation in phone repairs who is doing fine presently in online trolling and begging.

its still possible, though you may need to find out how many percentage 100 level carries in total CGPA upon graduation. In some school they are not equal, it may be less than 10% making it mathematically possible., i.ie making 5.0 through out the rest years in a 5 point scale.

know someone that made 2:1 but had GP of 3.4 in 100 level while some pple that had above 4 point in 100 level finished 2.2 and third class.

mind you, everything is not about grade in life. Their are first class and 2:1 graduates suffering out there

The higher you go, the tougher it becomes. You are not serious at all starting young academic career with a lower 2.2

It depends on the weight of the courses ahead. First year courses are usually foundation courses with less units. If he can hit 4.8 GPA in the second semester and continue with that momentum, he will make a comfortable first class.

No you can't its not a curse, its simple maths. Even those who started with 4.7 in 100level still battled for first class in final year. Some never made it.

You should re-orientate yourself about schooling. Its not really about your grades. Its what you have to offer at the end of the day.

100 to 200level should have been your solid foundation for first class before your course units increases it begins to accumulate.

Sir the honest truth is that if you really wanted first class your first CGPA will be 4.5+ and the sad truth is that you didn't work hard enough... But you can still get 2:1 but you will have to be making at least 3.8 gp every semester till you graduate...

Well I'll b realistic here, first class students don't start off on such poor grade so let's b real here.. U can make 2:1 though but you really need to sit up.

Yes unless you make 5.0 from your second semester 100 level to your final semester, you must make A all through, B won't be acceptable

Yes you can. I had 2.83 in my first semester but graduated with 4.23. It would have been better If I had worked harder.

You aim a first class n you started with a 2.8. the only way u can make a first class is by starting again

first solution to your problem is to get why you had 2.8 ... cos 2.8 shows a lot of problems from not reading well to anything

U can never jump two step in cgpa ....I repeat never ever
If ur very first year , u ended up with 2.2 the highest u will ever get if everything u have is As till u graduated , u will still end up with 2.1 u can never jump to first class

If u finish with 2.1in ur first year then u can work hard and jump to first class

If u end up with third class in your first year , regardless of the As in subsequent years u can never make 2.1 highest u can climb is 2.2

So whatever u end up with in your first year , the max u can do with whatever best u have is to climb one more step .....never 2

Forget about first class and concentrate on making as many As and Bs in the courses you register.
While in school, I didn't put my gaze on first class I just made sure I gather as many As and Bs and also make sure am in constant fight with C and D
