Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State said last week: “Thousands of people come into the city [Lagos] without plans, and we do not have any border control to mitigate this. A lot of people come into Lagos and they really don’t even have a place (to stay). They do not have a means where the next meal is going to come from; they do not know where they are going to sleep and that’s the reality”. He added: “People erect makeshift shanties but you also have NGOs that say you can’t remove them”. The reality is that the governor is blaming the victims of poor governance for the reality that they dwell in slums or are homeless. Two-thirds of the population of Lagos, a city with an estimated population of 21m, live in slums.

The stone don hit some people's head.. We know which regions the 70% are from.. That's due to barrenness of their land..

Unfortunately, I’m still unconvinced about this Sanwo-Olu man. Though it still early days into his administration, however , from all indications , he doesn’t seems to me like someone with a good blueprint of what Lagos and his massive population need at this point.
The other day at The Experience, immediately his name was called , the kind of boos coming from the crowd was unprecedented. I am not sure any Lagos Governor has received such hostile reception.
I really felt for him that night because it was evident Lagosians are not feeling his governance style.
During his speech, you can’t help but noticed the jittery in his voice. Begging them not to give up on him blah blah blah.
I pray he retraced his steps and do something that will etched his name in the good book of lagosians.
