Since we are already wrapping up 2019, the New Year is already beckoning on us, with lots of amazing things to come out of the auto industry. Well, Mercedes has decided to give us a Christmas present by unveiling this new masterpiece – 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA, a new entry-level SUV from the iconic brand.

GLA35 AMG and GLA 250 are the newly introduced models by Mercedes for the 2021 model year. The first one, GLA 250 comes fitted with an inline-4 2.0-liter engine, mated to an eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Its potent engine generates an output of 221 horsepower and 258 pound feet of torque, with the capability to accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in an impressive 8.6 secs. For this variant, it offers a top speed of 130 mph.

The higher variant, GLA35 AMG, comes fitted with 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine with a generative output of 306 horsepower and 295 pound feet of torque. This AMG offers a dynamic oriented performance, with the ability to accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in a remarkable 5.1 secs. Its 4 wheels get power from its eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

According to the Chief Design Officer Daimler Group, Gorden Wagener, he said:

“The new GLA embodies the perfect synergy between pure beauty and robust off-road elements. With it, we are carrying the dynamic SUV forward into the future of modern luxury.”

The Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, Tobias Moers, said:

“With the new GLA35 we are rounding off our attractive portfolio of compact entry-level models to the world of Mercedes-AMG,”

Some of the exciting features being offered by this newly unveiled 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA include optional 7.0-inch or 10.15-inch displays screen, Navigation system (augmented reality, voice control and learning software), 20-inch wheels, MBUX infotainment system, Heads up Display (full coloured), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 4-link rear axle, Driver assistance systems, and a standard Off-Road Engineering package for the AWD version.

Prices of 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA models
The 2021 Mercedes-GLA is manufactured in 3 locations – Germany (Rastatt), France (Hambach) and China (Beijing). The automaker is yet to announce its price yet but we are sure that will be done rightly before its release into the market.

Naijauto experts estimate the suggested retail price ranges from ₦13 million to ₦17 million, excluding delivery fees, tax or clearing cost. So, the total amount you might have to pay to get a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA shipped to Nigeria may fall between ₦30 to ₦40 million.

It is expected to hit the roads by the middle of year 2020, which will also be made available to interested buyers from Nigeria at the Weststar Associates Limited.
