If the thief cleared the account via the MasterCard all your friend need to do is to go to the bank and fill a dispute form,so the money would be reverted if the criminal used a merchant account to buy or subscribe for something,but it also advisable to call the bank customer care at this point so they can initiate the necessary process. On further enquiry, according to his bank statement it was an NIP transfer from his account to a third party account which they were able to do through social engineering to get him to give them the debit card digits.

It is really difficult to say,most likely what they did was opened an alternative mobile app,and simply got an otp from him ,since it is an NIP transfer well the recipient account can be restricted, but it doesn't guarantee money would be found.Well the cloning of the card too his very possible in this case,especially if he divulges his pin details,but very rare,most people who clone cards ensure they withdrawal the money via ATM
