The founder and leader of Kharis Church in the United Kingdom, Pastor David Antwi has said that anyone who plays instruments in church and collects money is a thief.

Pastor David Antwi stated this during a church service. He said such a person is satan’s cousin.

Antwi called all the instrumentalists in his church to the front of the congregation and told them that:

“If you play the instruments in church and you collect money, you are a thief,” He said.

Pastor David Antwi’s assertion has garnered several reactions on the internet, majorly negative comment with some questioning where this was stated in the bible and a few also questioning his calling.

Many are of the opinion that instrumentalists or musicians working in the church should be paid for their skills.

He is right, these days many people don't do this for God but for their own pocket. Even people like frank Edwards , sinach and co charge outrageously just to come and perform you begin to wonder what is really going on. Keyboardist and instrumentalists in churches demand monthly stipends to continue playing.. it's just so pathetic.

I disagree with you my dear. What about guys who studied Music in University? Do they go to school for free? What about people who paid tuition for music schools to learn those instruments? What about men of God who establish Christian schools, are they tuition for free? You need to look at the bigger picture here.

The workers do not deserve pay anymore

Should they rather take their talents and go play in clubs, parties, where they will be paid better? If pastors don't want to pay keyboardist, what will they use church money for? There is nothing wrong paying them the amount the church can afford.

Playing instrument is part of worshiping God it is not a job that need to be paid.
If they need help they should be helped not as payment for playing instrument or it should be willingly from the church but not a payment for service rendered.
