Poorly thought out strategy from the onset. Better to start out with the end in sight.

Nigeria will win this. The case is not over. The Attorney General just agreed with MTN that the relevant body to handle this is the FIRS that is statutorily saddled with handling tax matters and not the Attorney General's office. They will still pay the taxes owed and the case may still be taken to court if MTN and FIRS don't agree on amount due

Buhari should have allowed them continuing using unregistered sim now. Where many of you Igbo receive the inspiration to wail ceaselessly must indeed be from Ojukwu in hell.

Buhari shortsighted fight against MTN made Nigeria the overall loser without MTN losing anything . See below what this short sightedness cost Nigeria .

We lost the Nigerian CEOship of MTN Nigeria and many other senior posts .

1 .100s of Local SMEs MTN patronised lost patronage and billions of Naira in revenue

2 We lost Project fame that helped move a lot of Nigerians to fame. E.g Inyanya , praise .

3 We lost the sponsorship of Who wants to be a millionaire which supported a lot of small Nigerian businesses from studio owners to make up artist and even Frank Edoho has been broke and unemployed since then .

4 Our Financial system lost over 20 billion dollars in capital flight as MTN and Etisalat moved out their capital overnight to save it from Buhari threats .

5 Caused us a loss of FDI said to be in range of about 15 billion dollars as no investor felt Nigeria was a safe investment again to invest as a result of what happened to governor.

6 MTN subscribers in Nigeria were forced to pay for the 300 million dollars Buhari Govt finally milked them of.

Buhari is very shortsighted in all his approach to governance and can only make things worse with his style of leadership ..

MTN has the money to pay now.
They make the largest profit in our country.
And it is not as if their service is top notch.
WHY the revoke?!
Be asking stupid questions, you know quite alright that money has exchange hands, but u decide to play a fool because u feel ur darling president is fighting corruption.

Weird I guess the FG didnt feel they could win case. Maybe they just settle for a few million. If that happens its a win for everyone. Why bother with the suit if they could just refer it tax and customs to begin with?
No sir!
It's just a ploy by a few to make some change from MTN. It's simple, you harass them (legally), inflate fine, there will then be some private negotiations, then the harassment is relaxed(legally).

It's the way things work in Nigeria

Because MTN Nigeria does everything by the book and are not defaulting in any way.

What a proud moment!

The time you used to itemize and anlyse all these your beer parlour arguements, if you invest it in analysing your life, then probably, just probably, you may not be as bitter, miserable, depressed and suicidal as you are now.

Mr man close your mouth and don't say abi na type what you don't know. Before the fine, MTN has already started their "cost cutting " initiative that led to reducing sponsorship and outright cancellation of platforms like WWTBM and project Fame. Mike Ikpoki as first Nigerian CEO was appointed to do a "dirty job" against the Nigerians working in MTN, this is what a white CEO won't do because of the backlash that will come from a foreigner treating MTN Nigeria staff badly in Nigeria. Na God catch Mike Ikpoki.
However, if not for the fine,MTN Nigeria won't be listed on NSE. MTN Nigeria as a business has strengthened its obedience to Regulations and other laws of Nigeria.
To me it is a Win Win situation for MTN and Nigeria!

Why not blame both of them.

As MTN is listed did or anybody you know buy shares there ? For your information MTN used shell offshore companies to mop up its own shares as it listed so no gain to Nigeria ..you clearly don't know how the stock market works and what's it's for .
