Before this'Amotekun' brohaha Ebonyi had already set up a security apparatus called Neighborhood watch...but like the commissioner says "criminals are very smart and you don't have to disclose all ur security affairs to appear smart thereby shooting yourself on the leg"

Umahi is a very smart gov.

Lagos had neighborhood watch before Ebonyi but still contributed her own quota to Amotekun. Let the SE Governors come together for once and stop all the finger pointing. We all know how SW Governors established OIDUA INVESTMENT and they have been in the fore front of regional integration since Buhari came on board. Enough of the paper tiger mentality. If you want to claim superior knowledge then your actions should speak louder than your words. Talk talk people.

Truly, this is gibberish and I am gravely disappointed in this guy with this statement.
Is this unto comparison or what?
You talk you no do, another person no talk but do. Who get sense pass?
Sincerely, the current crop of SE governors are terrible.

Nwanne, do not talk about being copied. The Yoruba governors just found a way to solve a problem.
Granted, I spent 3 weeks in Igboland during the Christmas and I did not hear any violence anywhere.
Maybe what you guys are doing quietly is working. But I know the reason you are doing it quietly.

If you went public with any security outfit in Igboland Buhari will come sniffing fire. It is better Yorubas
start it first, they have tied Buhari's hands already.

So nobody copied you, just do your job.

really? You should be ashamed of such leader that is shamelessly envious of other region's success without meaningful response to his people's challenges, only still displaying the famous inherent childsh empty chest beating. Do you think it is a day's job for 6 governors to meet, plan, finance, implement/execute amotekun project?. No be curse, SE won't be able to respond to it successful, if they did launch anything at all, it won't stand the test of time because of their known attitude.

Give us the name of the so called movies. Are theatre plays what you call movies?
Living in bondage is officially the first nollywood home movie. Lo gba research!
Go in search of movies like Omo Araye Le by Ola Omonitan in the 80's and cure your ignorance please. Have you ever heard of Evil Encounter produced by Jimi Odumosu in 1982?

, are you saying hubert ogunde, moses olaiya and the rest didn't contribute anything to film industry in Nigeria? It all started in 1992 when the living in bondage was released, my friend go and read the meaning of pioneer before you come online to argue.

Going by your logic, computer started with 3rd and 4th generation of computer since those first generation were not advance....

Don't mind that child born in the Nineties. Nollywood videos can't match Herbet Ogunde's special effects back in the days. Then I use to think he used Jazz for his special effects. Those were quality movies then.

Ewedu people lack originality. They even copied the East when Living in bondange an Igbo movie was produced in the 90s. They realized it was time to start producing yoruba movies.

Yoruba people pioneered movie productions in Nigeria and that is a fact.

I am so ashamed of my Igbo brethren. They have started breaking Bridges and insulting other tribes again and come 2023 they will claim the other tribes betrayed them at the polls by not voting for an Igbo candidate of their choosing.

They will simply forget how they destroyed their chances right from the beginning.

God help their myopia

See this one. Are you okay, or you are just young?

Yoruba home videos have been produced since the 80's. Very popular all over the west. There were even video clubs already where u could borrow movies in residential areas. You should go read about the yoruba film industry and how old some movies are. And Yoruba drama theatre has been in existence since the 50's.

Living bondage is the first English home video. Not the first Nigerian home video. Igbos started moving to the SW in the 90's and saw an untapped market for people that can't speak yoruba.

Tribalism apart, what is the essence of an idea that was not put to use? Same way GEJ conceived the ideas of BVN and single treasury acct but were put to use by another govt.

Wallade:

After Nigeria's independence in 1960, the cinema business rapidly expanded, with new cinema houses being established.[14] As a result, Nigerian content in theatres increased in the late 1960s into the 1970s, especially productions from Western Nigeria, owing to former theatre practitioners such as Hubert Ogunde and Moses Olaiya transitioning into the big screen.[15][16] In 1972, the Indigenization Decree was issued by Yakubu Gowon, which demands the transfer of ownership of about a total of 300 film theatres from their foreign owners to Nigerians, which resulted in more Nigerians playing active roles in the cinema and film.[17] The oil boom of 1973 through 1978 also contributed immensely to the spontaneous boost of the cinema culture in Nigeria, as the increased purchasing power in Nigeria made a wide range of citizens to have disposable income to spend on cinema going and on home television sets.[15] After several moderate performing films, Papa Ajasco (1984) by Wale Adenuga became the first blockbuster, grossing approximately ₦61,000 (approx. 2015 ₦21,552,673) in three days. A year later, Mosebolatan (1985) by Moses Olaiya also went ahead to gross ₦107,000 (approx. 2015 ₦44,180,499) in five days.[18]

After the decline of the Golden era, Nigerian film industry experienced a second major boom in the 1990s, supposedly marked by the release of the direct-to-video film Living in Bondage (1992); the industry peaked in the mid 2000s to become the second largest film industry in the world in terms of the number of annual film productions, placing it ahead of the United States and behind only India.

It's quite funny when people say someone stole their idea or they dont want to give their idea away. An idea is useless unless it is executed. Most people in Nigeria have ideas. Ideas are a dime a dozen.

Execute; get FGN to allow the project, patch into police and security comms to make reports, recruit, fund, fund and fund again and finally roll out. That's what is needed. Not someone saying they had an idea. I am embarrassed for this governor.

Let me give you another reason to 'gba research'

1. The first TV station in Nigeria is in Yoruba land.

2. The first University in Nigeria is in Yoruba land.

3. The first University teaching hospital in Nigeria is in Yoruba land.

4. Three of the five 'first generation' universities in Nigeria are in Yoruba land (UI, OAU and UNILAG), while there's only one in the east (UNN) and one in the north (ABU).

5. The first stadium in Nigeria is in Yoruba land.

The undeniable fact is that Yorubas are the pace setters. That's why Oyo State is fondly called the Pacesetter state.
