Liverpool Don’t Buy Superstars, They Make Them’ by insideanfield: 11:08pm On Jan 13, 2020

Liverpool’s ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher has saluted the ability of those at Anfield to identify talent in the transfer market and then take it to even greater heights approach is making stars from players instead of buying stars for three-digit transfer fees.
“It’s not that Liverpool are just buying players with this special ability that nobody else sees these players,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
Jamie praises Liverpool’s transfer philosophy.
He singles out the likes of Robertson, Wijnaldum, Salah and Mane – all of them weren’t stars in their respective clubs before joining the Reds.
Improving players after signing them is the most important thing. read more https://insideanfield.co.uk/2020/01/13/liverpool-dont-buy-superstars-they-make-them/

Really? U want to go there? Have most (if not all) of them proven their worth most especially in their first season?

Do I need to mention signings of other clubs who went AWOL or otherwise?

That is not the question. They are all good players and have and are currently earning their salt.

But to make it seem like they were bought at a cheap price or were ordinary and were siddenly turned into superstars at Liverpool is blatant falsehoods.

Quality is not cheap.

Granted but asides Fabinho who was part of Monaco's title winning squad, most of them were made superstars at Liverpool.

Firmino was from Hoffenhiem

Wijnaldum from Newcastle

Salah & Ali(collected 5 goals from Liverpool d season b4 he came) from Roma

Mane, Lallana & VVD from Saints

None of these were "superstars" in their previous clubs, hell, most of them were laughed at because of their ridiculous prices then which turned out to be good value for money.

Quality is not cheap which is true but exception to Arnold, Robertson, Matip, Gomez not excluding Shaq and Origi

Whenever any decent player moves to a prestigious club, he becomes more popular due to the profile of the club. Its as simple as that. We know the big clubs. Madrid, United,Arsenal, PSG Chelsea,Liverpool, Barcelona so its not unique to Liverpool.

Carragher was trying to give the impression that those players were nothing before they came to liverpool...you dont spend such enormous amounts on "nothing." players.

I agree with but look at it from this angle.

When a "big" club shows interest in a player, the player's current club inflate the prices of these players thereby making them look special. The only way to do that is if the buying club can find a release clause or something they can hold on to.

The case of inflation was seen with Van dijk but be truthful, did you see Van dijk as a 65m signing or a waste of money at that time?

That's what Jamie is trying to explain. Minus the money, a player with big money move (either a superstar or not) has to somewhat prove himself e.g Joelinton of Newcastle

Its all good ojare. I cant kill myself over money wey i no go touch. Ever since Carragher spat on fans, i dont take him that serious. Him and Gary Neville. They intellect is not that high and it was evident when Mourinho joined them in the studio for analysis. Mourinho was oozing football tactics and knowledge from every pore of his body while they were dwarfed by his mastery.

Let Carragher go and sit down somewhere.

Some people funny Sha, thank you jare, you have spoken well.
Liverpool bought the best players from different teams and OP said they are not superstars, VVd was the best player in Saint before he was bought so also Mane, Salah was the best player @ Roma and Allison was the second best goalkepper (if not the best) in the whole of Italia serial A, even Shaqiri (who is not worthy to be fielded in a match by Liverpool now) was the best player @ stoke city before Liverpool buy am.
How can OP say u made them superstars when you bought best players from every team?

The big clubs spots them because they are exceptional talents not small players. That they were in small clubs was just a stepping stone.

A lot of people never cultivated any critical thinking skills and therefore cannot "properly" think their way through any issue.

Its sad to see among the younger generation. Many dont even know how to find and gather information to support their opinion.

Its all good. Life will continue to go on.
